Ask the gumps? They apparently have no problem loving Saban... If Sully helps us win one championship, much less multiple, he'll be my favorite coach ever!

Florida is stacked this year like they are most years. He spits out first rounders yearly.
If Florida is stacked and finished 6th in the conference this year how would you describe the teams and coaches above them in the standings?

I don't necessarily think it would be a bad hire

Agree. But the flagship university in one of the most baseball frenzied states (easy recruiting) has roughly the same success as Paul, and that wasn't enough for most LSU fans.

I would expect him to perform as well here or less.

Nah he coached at a rival school.

You probably wear your Little League uniform to the games.

Sullivan would get us in Supers and CWS on the regular, which is what we want. No one is going to dominate the CWS like we did with Skip back in the day. Manieri did a good job but since '17 you could see our program on a decline. That's why it was time for Paul to go. Vitelli feels like a Tom Herman hire. Hot commodity but no skins on the wall yet.

So in short you feel both have underperformed and therefore are the same coach ?

Recruiting style the same ? Overall philosophy the exact same ? Coaching background exactly the same ?

I feel same way. I do think Goodwin would bring incredible energy to program. My opinion, downvote away. Our fan base has also been an issue for last few years. Way to much negativity.

Herman failed his first attempt at a big boy school. Vitelli is doing great.

I'd take Godwin before Vitello.

So you’re praying LSU doesn’t hit a guy bc he hurt your feelings when he was coach of a rival school?

Me too. Goodwin is solid. Good recruiter. Combination of LSU brand and Goodwin could be trouble for rest of nation. I am not a baseball genius , here is hoping we get the right guy!

As an LSU fan, only once he becomes one of our own can you truly know what it means to hate.

Nobody said he won a championship, he just pointed out the stupidity and inaccuracy of the Herman comparison.

BilJ, the comparisons of PM and Sully are pretty startling.

KOS has never had a 4 year stretch like PM just had from 2018-2021

The pandemic kept off so much heat from Paul by cancelling 2020, too.

So maybe they have similar peaks, but one of the guys hasn’t ran his program into the ground.

How many years has he been an HC?

Whats his trajectory?

I'll certainly support O'Sullivan, but I don't expect anything better than we have.

Uf has incredible recruiting advantages.

I would agree that they’ve not had similar stretches, but I also wouldn’t agree PM hasn’t ran the program into the ground unlike Smoke.

Sully has been more consistent in Omaha, but both have floundered with some tremendously talented teams.

Sully’s team in 2011 had 11 players make it to the majors and they did not win a championship.
