Praise and Concerns about the loss... GT

I saw a team of first time starters, transfers, and underclassmen. After 1 game, there will clearly be a learning curve, but I saw a lot of promise out there. The team grew very quickly, and I assume they will get better every week. Myles Brennan is getting ragged on pretty hard, but I think he is still the real deal. Dude looked a little nervous (rightfully so), but he posted a good line and showed some fight and talent in those lead changes. He will definitely improve each week. Rest of the offense, I saw some drops and the line looked shaky at times, but they should both improve as Brennan does. Offense looked fine, not too concerned with them yet.
Concerns about the offense: It looked like the only thing Steve Ensminger learned from Joe brady was how to set up formations and plays, but not how to execute them. The passing game was struggling, but he kept passing. It seemed to me like he was trying to think "hey what would we do last year". But that isnt going to fly, he needs to recognize when and why something isnt working and try something else. I saw a lot of RPO, but MB clearly wasn't going to run the ball, even the announcers commented on it. Again that shows me, he is mirroring the formations, but not having a defined plan on how it will work.
This is a concern, but I won't jump to conclusions yet. Let's see how week 2 goes. Maybe he was trying to get MB's confidence up.
Defense got shredded, mainly the DBs. But hey, that guy was dropping dimes. We have a next man up kinda team, but not when that man out is Derek Stingley. He is the cornerstone of our defense, especially the secondary. Losing him on short notice worried me, and I bet it really worried Bo Pelini, because he knew that everything he had gone over with the team revolved around that guy playing lock down D on one side of the field. D line looked great, LBs looked great. Jabril Cox and Jacoby were monsters. Scheme was exploited, tackling was below average.
Concerns about the defense: Derek Stingley is only one guy, most teams are running 4-5 receiver sets these days and our scheme looked underprepared for that. Maybe the new offenses have passed Bo by, and his aggressive style is easy to pick apart. It was pretty clear to me that we did better dropping 8 guys than blitzing 5.
Hopefully that was a fluke, and Stingley's return will fix a lot of problems. and Again, only 1 week, I still have faith in Bo and the defense. That D line will look nasty as the season goes on, with Glen Logan back also.
Let's see how next week goes, I think we will get back on track.

still no reason to loose, coaching should have made more adjustments

Yea I agree, they should have pulled out a win. And run the ball more. Take the ball out of MSU hands and control the clock.

Eh, a lot of the big gains were where he floated balls that should’ve been picked or at least batted down and where safety’s straight up whiffed on tackles. The DBs (other than Jacoby) and linebackers (other than Jabril) were downright lost and awful.
First game of the year and all, I get that... but to be that sloppy and constantly out of position? Pretty bad look.

Take off the P&G glasses. The true freshman QB at Vandy looked much better.

Certainly possible, but I think you're wrong. I think MB will get real good real fast.

Dude looked a little nervous
A little ? Dude was shitting all over himself all afternoon. At home. Against Mississippi State. With only 25k fans. That was the least external pressure any 1st-time starter LSU QB has had in the history of the program.

Football players get hurt. You cannot build an entire defense around 1 guy. That’s ridiculous.

Dear Lord, why?

You're right, let's give up on the team and coach that just won a natty, had 14 players drafted, and a had a shortened pandemic offseason after one bad game. They clearly don't know what they are doing. Man, you are a shite fan.

What I saw was a team that has basically be replace struggling with inexperience. The offense got better as the game went on, the defense got worse. At points during that game you saw glimpses of what the Tigers will be next year. They just need to keep coaching, keep working and get the youth reps.

What I saw is- this is the reason you schedule cupcakes early on. And why the NFL (usually) has preseason games.
Defense- new scheme, they don't even have the base concepts down pat yet. Experienced guys (what few we had) were just as new to this system as the freshmen. Missing a few key performers like Stingley hurt, too. They'd have looked sloppy against a generic offense, playing an Air Raid was just magnifying the fact that people were still not sure and comfortable in what they were doing.
Offense- expected there to be a period where Brennan struggles to find his rhythm. This isn't Burrow coming out throwing to last year's guys, in Brady's schemes. Everything is new, and aside from Marshall, everyone is getting used to live game speed. Getting their feet wet.
Someone said Brennan looked nervous- well, hell yeah he was. He's supposed to be easing into his role, and every time he's coming back onto the field his team needs to score to keep up. There wasn't any time to relax.
LSU did not treat this game like a win-at-all-cost bowl game, where you're willing to throw out the gameplan at halftime. They want/need to bring people up to speed with new schemes, to be ready for the season ahead.
I think, I HOPE, this team will grow. I think we'd beat State in midseason, and beat them bad by the end of the year.

Was Farrell out there? I know we just got him back, but I thought he wouldn't play in that first game. I don't remember seeing #92 out there. Having him, Logan, and Stingley back should improve things greatly.
Still need another lock-down corner or safety. Flott got picked on all night. Hopefully, he'll get better.

lost 15 to nfl, 3 (Vincent, Chase, Shelvin)to opt outs before season, and 2 starters before game. Lota of first timers out there against the guy that usually leads nation in passing every year. Yes the offense could have made adjustments and stayed on field longer but really it was perfect storm for upset first game. Along with no real home field advantage. They will get better quick.

Farrell played
Probably because Logan, Guillory, Roy all were out.
Farrell did ok but still doesn't look to be in game shape yet.
