As an engineer, I can't imagine storm water drainage systems that are capable of handling what could be up to 30" of rain in/around HOU between Saturday & mid next week.

I gotcha, but from what I've seen on the weather channel Houston is slated to have 18-24" of rain by Tuesday. I know that is kinda splitting hairs cause that's still a helluva lot of rainfall but it is quite a bit of difference from your prediction.

I live in Houston , we are projected to get 18 inches of rain.

If that happens, the game could be in jeopardy for sure.

People are leaving their homes South of us right now, they could fill up the hotels, etc...

That is the official forecast, but The Weather Channel storm experts said there could be locally 30+" in and around the Houston area depending on landfall and how long it remains stalled on land.

Either way, 3 or 4, the game will not happen if that type of storm hits and stalls.

I think people are confusing the potential issues with Houston. As of now, Harvey is projected to come onshore well south of Houston. A cat 3 storm will tear up the corpus area, or wherever it hits, but not Houston. Houston gets tropical storm force winds, storm surge in the channel and rain initially. That's bad, but not devastating.

The real danger to Houston will be if Harvey stalls. Even if it stalls, where and how long will dictate how much rain Houston gets. Forecast more than 3 days out is highly suspect. I think it's too early to really know.

Plan for the worst, hope for the best.

One hopes there is some sort of contingency planning taking place...

do not pull a Jeremy Foley/Greg Sankey and have your head in the sand!!!!

one option would be a Monday night game in Dallas (not my favorite at all, but better than no game)

hopefully there is SOMEONE in a position of authority doing some worst case scenario planning...if Houston gets as much rain as the weather people say...I think a decision should be made on Sunday or Monday...

This was posted earlier. I didn't see it, so I can't verify. Based on history, it wouldn't be shocking.

WAFB just reported that Verge Ausberry says that LSU hasn't had any discussions about moving the game or altering game time. Wow.

TS no way. SD is probably a stretch too.

I'd say Arlington on Monday would be the best alternate if the weather doesn't go north.

There is a greater than 50% chance as of thevladt conference call for the local EOC that this thing will moved back over the gulf and skirt the coast towards LA.

Moving the game here wouldn't help

We'll know if it bounces back to LA by the end of this weekend. That'll be plenty of time to move it here if need be(assuming we are safe).

If they had to move it, it could be moved to the original Cotton Bowl in Dallas.

The storm is sitting between two highs and the threat exists that is couid drift eastt late next week. If Houston gets projected 30-35" of rain, may be hard to recover in less than a weeks time. The powers that be should be discussing Plan B quickly
