Forgot to mention this earlier in thread, but this is all my fault. I've been saying all summer that "at least we don't have to worry about weather affecting the game this year". Fricking jinxed it.

Again, link to Houston specifically? Most everything I've seen outside of very local news just says "South Texas". Any idea how big South Texas is? It's more than 350 miles from here to Brownsville. We're actually closer to New Orleans than that. 200 miles from Houston to Corpus.

The other thing about Houston is it actually drains fairly well. It isn't a big bowl like New Orleans is, where the water just sits. We're also not really effected by rain in surrounding areas. In other words, all of "South Texas" doesn't drain into Houston. The flooding we get is from rain that actually hits Houston specifically.

ZERO chance of cancellation. This will be a light rainstorm in 4 days and all will be good.

Yeah, I was in the "this could be bad" camp, but wasn't in panic mode. Now, I'm really concerned.

It would be nice if LSU would make a statement as to where they are with this.

It's almost impossible to pinpoint exactly where and how much rain one will get. The best they can do is say what areas are likely to get x amount of rain. It doesn't mean everyone will get that much. Some will get less, some may get more. Houston is in the 20+ range.

I do hope they move the game. The possibility of Houston having problems is likely. We don't need to be taking up hotels or putting more people on the road around there if they get it bad

You should check in with the good people of SW Houston about how well the city drains. They have only seen their homes completely flooded 2 times in the last two years...from severe thunderstorms. I'm guessing a tropical storm parked over the city for four days won't exactly work out too well for a lot of folks south of I-10. Look up what Allison did to Houston in 2001, because this is shaping up to be very similar. Hopefully this things heads due north or spins to the NW, but I haven't seen many models predict that type of outcome.

It certainly doesn't look good. I would think a decision has to be made no later than Monday or Tuesday.

This really sucks.

Didn't Houston just have pretty significant flooding last year?

I would rather travel to BYU than have this game cancelled!

Agreed! Have a contingency plan in place right now today! If we have to go out to BYU to play the damn game then get it lined up and be ready to go!

This actually isn't a terribly bad idea. I have no idea if this is even on the table, but if for some reason it does happen, I will find my way to Utah. Several reasons why:

1) The Baton Rouge area is going to be a clusterfrick, in my opinion, all next week. There will be a lot of rain, and even if it doesn't flood, I just think it is going to be a pain here next week with rain/traffic/, etc.

2) The weather. Forecast for Provo next week at this time: 91 degrees, but only 28% humidity and a low temp of 59. I like.

3) That is a beautiful area of the country and I have always wanted an excuse to get out that way.

4) Don't they have some rule about guys getting to have multiple wives? I would imagine some of the extra wives would get bored and would be willing to entertain an out-of-towner for 3 days....

Like I said Allison dropped 25 inches in 12 hours not 4 days. I know, I was there. We got hit directly by the storm. It isn't at all similar. I know there are lots of areas around the city that flood all the time. It doesn't shut down the entire city like many on here are afraid of.

I just saw this statement from the mayor and Harris County officials warning about exaggerated reports circulating on social media doing more harm than good:

Where the frick have you heard this? Not one credible source, and certainly not the University has said anything remotely related to cancelling the game.

The game should be moved, but shoeless joe will probably wait until Friday night to try to move the game.

I like the moving it Provo idea. Would be legit.

I know the Astros are supposed to be in town this weekend. Any news of their games being cancelled? It'll be a good indicator of the situation at hand
