Vol fan here but wife is huge Tiger fan. We usually come down there once a year.

This year we finally got schedules straight and will be there for the UGA game.

Only reasonably priced hotels we can find at this point are in Port Allen. Have never stayed there...usually down south around Highland/Bluebonnet area.

Not real familiar with BR so my question is:

Why is Port Allen so much less expensive? Is it a good place to stay for LSU games or am I missing something?

Cheaper bc it’s across the river and it’s not Baton Rouge. May not be as nice as some in BR, but will definitely do the job.

If you don’t want to do anything around your hotel I guess it wouldn’t be too bad

It's on the other side of the river from the stadium. If it's that much cheaper, I would stay there. It's just a short drive over the bridge to get to the game. Only downfall would be if you come in on Friday and want to drive into BR on Friday afternoon. The traffic is beyond brutal.

Port Allen or Lobdell are very close and will probably have much cheaper hotels. Both are like 10 minutes from campus, but across the river. After the game you are probably looking at 2 hours to get there though, but that goes for almost any hotel you are trying to get to.

I live in Denham so that's how I used to go home when I was at Dow. Doesn't help much if you're trying to loop back towards Nicholson on 110 though.

I'm in Garyville now and I'll never work that side of the river again as long as I can help it.

Thanks for everyone's input. We will be spending most of our time in BR and hotel is just a place to lay the head late at night.

Booked a hotel there that has only been open about 6 weeks.

So hopefully it should work out fine...

What day are you planning on coming in? I can't stress how bad the afternoon traffic is on the interstate coming into BR from Port Allen.

The penguin. That's where I stay when I come down to a game. The stadium is just over the bridge. Nice affordable motels. Restaurants are lacking if they haunt added any since I was last there. Lotta fast food. Enjoy the game and tiger victory

Make sure you park where contraflow doesn't direct you away from the bridge.

There are plenty of better places to eat in Baton Rouge but if you're around the hotel in Port Allen and want something quickly Cou-Yon's has some good stuffed baked potatoes.

Berthelot's Seafood is decent too.

He could go shoot some clays or go to the porn shop. Other than that, yeah you're right.

His location is shown as Hunstville, Alabama so going west over the bridge on Friday afternoon or evening shouldn't be too bad.
