That would get rid of the RV lot. Which probably gets moved over to the Hay Lot. Which gets rid of thousands of parking spots. Alleva seeing $$$$$ new sources in the fall

The best way to alleviate the parking issue is to build the proposed TRAM on Nicholson that would connect LSU to Downtown. It would allow people to use downtown parking garages for LSU games and use parking at LSU for downtown events. Not to mention the gentrification of Nicholson and further development downtown due to increased traffic. However, this will never happen until we get rid of Sharron Bloom.

I think the first upgrades he was promised are for the offices, weight rooms, basic facilities. If memory serves the PMAC rennovations/new construction is another year or two down the road.

Right, but Wade said that in March of 2017. Two years later and we don't seem any closer to getting anything done.

I agree it should start with the practice facility. That would be the easiest and shows a commitment to upgrading facilities.

You aren't understanding me, why is Mike the Tiger a factor to consider for PMAC upgrades? Having a tiger habitat nearby isn't going to delay or stop upgrades from happening.

The PMAC building isn't being demolished anytime in the near future so I'm not asking why a tiger wouldn't be outside in his habitat when they blow up the building. I didn't think this needed to explained

That entire railway plan was cut and the funds for it are being used to make bus routes. It will likely never happen at this point

Whatever they do I hope they move the seats closer to the court. The current setup has the fans way to far away from the court. I think an updated PMAC could look great.

agreed. no need for that damn purple barrier extending from the media table opposite of the scorers table. gut that shite out and put in floor seating like other SEC venues. its a waste to be about to walk around the lower concourse floor level

The PMAC should remain as a facility for gymnastics, volleyball, etc.

1. Demolish the track stadium and build a new one along the river south of any parking.

2. Build a new basketball only arena on site of Bernie Moore Stadium on Nicholson. Premium seating all around, but seats right at the court and don't make the capacity too low like Auburn or Ole Miss. Keep capacity around 13K.

3. Start a fundraising for this, but issue bonds to get it all done.

I hope LSU moves in the direction to make a basketball only facility. I think the reason the seats are so far from the court and you get the away from game feel is due to the arena being designed to hold multiple functions. For example gymnastics needs a ton of room so they push back some of the bleacher seats in the lower bowl to allow room. Which from a cost stance makes sense. If Wade can keep butts in the seats and continues to be profitable, get the man his own place.

My proposed plan:

Leave the PMAC and Track/Field stadium right where they are. Build new basketball facilities (weight room, offices, practice courts, main gym, etc.) in its own area, like the baseball facilities are currently setup.

We need a gym designed specifically for basketball. I want seats damn near on the court and the upper section of seats to be more vertical to have a closer feel to the game. The current PMAC design is not bad, it is just very large and open. I feel you lose a lot of the crowd atmosphere due to it being so vastly open. I think i great spot for new facilities would be across the street from the old box, catty corner to tiger stadium. This area may not provide much real estate, but it would flow well with all the athletic departments being on the same side of campus.

Drop athletics then and see who gives a shite about LSU

How about the 30,000 students that attend the school?
The 6,000 faculty and staff?
The hundreds of thousands of alumni?
The employers that hire LSU grads?

You can't be this fricking dumb, I love LSU sports, but LSU is a learning institution first and foremost.

Tell the university to stop taking money from the athletic department because it's the only fricking department that actually turns a profit at the school

This doesn't really make sense. The athletic department is a part of the university. Without LSU, the athletic department doesn't exist. Honestly the exposure and money that our sports teams generate for the university is probably the best reason that they even exist.

And? No one pays TV contracts to watch you do your shitty job, does that mean it's not worth doing?

I think a year in the Centroplex while they built a new arena on site would be pretty cool. 9,000 people in the pretty close to the floor intimate atmosphere. It would probably be rocking.

Basically upgrade it to modern day arenas. Make it 4 sided on the inside instead of a bowl. Make everything new. Put the press in the nosebleeds where they belong. Upgrade the home locker room. Probably look at a 2 tier balcony style seating layout instead of having the nosebleeds so far back from the game

Just need to build a new arena tbh

He said it in March of 18, so not quite a year. They should pick up the pace though

You're right. The other article I posted was 2017.

Updating the practice facility should get going soon. The PMAC is going to be more complicated.

That can be taken care of really easily. They have money to do whatever they want to do on that campus for athletics. They'll just have to fight F.King and his SJW cronies to get it done because muh academics.

No they don’t have the money.
SJW has nothing to do any of this. The TAF is tapped out.
“Muh academics” is why the university exists. Of course, using terms like “muh” shows that you clearly don’t have a clue about academics.

Completely bulldoze the PMac and track and field facilities. Build a new PMac.

Even if this were the case... A donation campaign would likely have most of the money in next to no time

If that was true, they would never be tapped out. But since that doesn't happen, they have to borrow money. TAF isn't an endless money pit.

You think it’s that easy to raise $100 million? Oh yeah, that’s right, the many wealthy denizens of the Rant would raise that effortlessly.

If they quit wasting athletics money on academics, we could pay for a new PMAC every 10 years.

It is not the responsibility of athletics to support our garbage Louisiana government.

Look how much room the cost gobbling track and field footprint takes up...Move them somewhere and build a state of the art basketball facility right next to the football stadium and PMAC.
