The honest answer is it’s perfectly fine. Field good teams and it’ll be filled.

You can sink millions repeatedly over the next 30 years renovating it, or build something state of the art that will stand the test of time in a modern era.
That simple. Problem is the prime location the PMAC sits on is where you want the replacement so that makes things complicated.
Otherwise it would have been built 7 years ago.

Need more space to accommodate the teams. Men and women should have their own separate practice arenas. Arguably, volleyball should have their own as well. It wouldn't take much to build those new practice facilities.
LSU loves the idea of keeping all sporting events within the confines of the campus. That change started with the new Alex Box. Then it happened to tennis.
A new basketball stadium that could function for other events outside of basketball/gymnastics/volleyball by hosting concerts and other large events would be great, but you would need to find the money and space.
Minimum price tag is $200 million. Texas just did it recently and it looks great. Unfortunately, you would need to build off campus.
Track and swimming are going to eventually leave Bernie Moore/Carl Maddox/Natatorium and probably take over some of the old LSU golf course (which golf doesn't use either - plays at U Club) and I imagine those areas would accommodate new parking lots and practice facilities. A new outdoor track will run for no more than $20 million. Indoor might bump that up a bit more because if we want a hydraulic track, it would be a massive uptick in price. I have no clue what swimming facilities would cost.
Carl Maddox can easily convert to basketball/volleyball for whoever they want. They already have offices for T&F and it would be a simple exchange of keys, new flooring, and eventually converting the cheer practice room to a weight room. I'm speculating a lot on what exactly Carl Maddox will be turning into, but I know for a fact that T&F will not be using that facility in the next couple of years.

It has no suites with a view of the court.
Climbing down the steps is like climbing a ladder without railings.
But none of that bothered us when I was in school at the height of the Dale Brown era. We used to pack 15,000 in there on a regular basis to watch a championship contending team.

You sure about that? Because they JUST spent a ton renovating it a couple of seasons ago. They wouldn't have done so if they were planning to move out on the timetable you suggest.

-Narrow/Tight concourses
-Limited Concession space
-Limited Bathroom space
-Terrible viewing angles (seating goes more out than up).
-Lack of premium seating spaces ($$$ maker for LSU).
-Lake of premium concession space ($$$ maker for LSU).

I agree - move the teams to the river center for a year or two and start from scratch at the same site.

I've been a season ticket holder since Stromile Swift came in. I thought it was just fine too, until I visited Mizzou's arena a few weeks ago. Theirs is only ten years old and they were replacing seats already. PMAC is dated (1972), seats are ridiculously uncomfortable, and it needs to be replaced. LSU needs to go with the plan of moving the track stadium, building new PMAC there, and making a plaza where the current stadium sits.

It'll never be demolished. Architects that have bid on a new arena have told the school that it's "historically significant" in terms of design and construction. All it'll ever get is a multi-million dollar facelift.

The track resurfacing really wasn't a whole lot in the grand scheme of things. It's really just a open floorplan with bleachers that are already there. You can do a lot with the space. The offices are already in place. There's a mini training room spot established. Lockers and meeting rooms already made.
They finished all the updates in 2014-2015 so ~8 years ago is when everything was done. You convert it to whatever basketball needs.

My apologies. I forgot which university had a $200+ million arena that was multi-purpose.
Regardless, we have $100 million already handed out by the state to help with "renovations" and I have no idea where you can find $100 million to spend on the PMAC without building up something new or tearing something down. I imagine it has something to do with eventually getting rid of Bernie Moore.

You can say this, but a few years down the line someone will build something better, and our fans will start crying about it falling behind. Some people have to complain. It's in their nature.
