re: Play Florida on November 19th... Keep South Alabama home game

LSU needs to do away with the bye week before Bama. They always come out rusty and tight. Too long to think about a team that has a streak on you is bad.

I like this. Need to make sure the morons making decisions are aware of this scenario. I like to think that they are on top of it and of fully aware of it, but I'm not so sure with the jack wagons

If they are fixated on LSU losing a home game, that's simply not going to cut it with the other options out there.
Posted on 10/9/16 at 12:48 am to BayouBengals03
They should be made to forfeit. Every other game was played or moved to Sunday. Even the NLDS was rescheduled to Sunday. Hell, NC State played ND in a downpour. Miami and FSU played their game.
What's the problem Florida? What do you have to say for yourselves?

I just can't see any way we don't give up our home came and go to Florida on 11/19.
The conference won't drag other teams into this. It's an LSU/Florida problem. The commish already has 2 teams who are at odds on agreeing to anything. The last thing they'll want to do is add a 3rd unhappy team into the mix. The path of least resistance to limit the reach of the chaos is to focus rearrangements solely on the schedules of the Tigers and Gators.
Playing on 11/19 straight up affects only LSU, Florida and the 2 cupcakes the SEC doesn't give a shite about.

I don't see us agreeing to three straight away games. And the media would be opposed to that too. Would make the SEC look bad.

Three straight away games in 12 days? Just no way

Yeah, it's just not going to happen.
Which, again, keeps me coming back to this.... If LSU/Florida is to be rescheduled, another SEC game will have to be moved.

arkansas probably wouldnt be too thrilled about this. getting a bye before miss state, a pencilled in win, instead of florida, a 50/50, and getting it later in the season

Arkansas could need to win one of their last two games to make a bowl. Never know.
Might not hurt them to regroup with a bye week.
But yes, that's just me trying to rationalize it. They obviously wouldn't be thrilled to do it. I guess we'll just have to see how much pull Sankey has, and how willing the SEC athletic directors are to work together for the overall competitiveness of the league.

You're overqualified to be the SEC Commissioner.

As I said in the equivalent thread on the sec rant
Florida has basically inconvenienced everyone except themselves:
1) If the game doesn't get played, they're better off in the SEC for it.
2) If it does get played, they'll be healthier a month from now than they are this weekend.
3) If it does get played, they wipe out an unappealing FCS cupcake with a marquee SEC home game which at this point they've lost out on.
It's nothing but wins for Florida and LSU gets boned by losing a home game and having to play on the road 3 times in 12 days. Florida's non efforts are creating a huge pain in everybody's else's arse.

Which is why hopefully an idea such as this one comes into play. So we don't have to lose a home game.
Again, I think there's basically no chance we play 3 road games in 13 days.

I really think they're angling this route but may reconsider if the conference starts to take heat for it publicly like Danielson brought up today. Specifically calling them out for cancelling this game citing player saftey but then turning around and forcing LSU to play 3 games in less than 2 weeks.

Danielson brought it up at the very earliest opportunity he possibly could.
That was very good for us. The media will hammer the SEC if the schedule turns out that way.
If we play Florida on November 19th, I think it will be because another SEC game was moved.

quote:Well, an above poster correctly and directly pointed out that UF got what they wanted... they get to play us after getting healthy.
I don't see us agreeing to three straight away games. And the media would be opposed to that too. Would make the SEC look bad.
So if something like this proposed by the OP can't happen for whatever reason, e.g. Arky doesn't want to get drug into it, then we...
1. ask for forfeit; that summarilty gets shut down
2. and then say well since UF got what they wanted which was to play LSU "later" we want to get what we want to, which is our senior day and $15MM to the local economy that just recently went through another real disaster, not a faux one like Gainsville.
So we, LSU, will compromise. UF gets what it wanted so they should have no problem coming to Death Valley on 11/19. That's our "coming together" and meeting in the middle.
We have no reason to give anything else more than that.
Posted on 10/9/16 at 7:26 am to BayouBengals03
AND... This solution works well since Florida gets "penalized" by losing a home game against an FCS opponent.

Add in moving LSU @ TAMU to 11/26 and I love this plan.
