re: Play Florida on November 19th... Keep South Alabama home game

anyone that has paid attention to Allevas career has no confidence in him.
at Duke he has the lax thing over his head, since being at LSU he botched the les firing last year, and we being the 2nd or 3rd most valuable asset to the sec constantly gets arse fricked.
He did everything right behind the scenes. However, he lost the pr battle by letting Foley set the narrative. He should have been leaking things and then had a presser right after Foley. ESPN has ran with Foleys narrative from the jump.

Just because there was incompetence on one side doesn't mean we should get into a pissing match. Let's be better than them, handle this with class, salvage our home game with South Alabama, and then beat Florida's arse in The Swamp on November 19th.
Again, I say, respect your opinion. But what gives your opinion greater value than a demand for forfeiture? So we build character by once again yielding to the SEC and FL gets off "scott free"? What will define their character in this "pissing match" as you call it?
We have 180 opposing opinions, I just believe mine to be more proper given the history in this conference. I've watched/listened to LSU for 58 yrs and can't remember a single time we've received the credit for the things we have done right.

meh
The way he handled it with the media was poor, but it's pretty clear that wasn't his fault, overall.
Anyways that's not what this is about. You need to try to get all 12 games played. That's the bottom line, to me.
No one is saying Florida and the SEC didn't frick this up. No one is saying we didn't get screwed. But if there is a solution to the problem, you still try to fix it.

because its silly to demand that UF forfeit. you know damn well that isn't happening.

Because demanding a Florida forfeit is completely unrealistic and childish, to be completely honest with you.
It's not going to happen. And we would look terrible if we "demanded" for it to happen, especially if there are other options on the table to play the game at Florida and also keep our home game with South Alabama.

quote:as he said, its not like the bye week has been doing any favors, and all the bama game has done is lead us to losing to Ark a week later.
A physical game against the Piggies while Bama rests and watches tendencies at home?
in this scenario, we should at least go 1-1 instead of 0-2.

I agree, Joe actually had things lined up correctly. The leaks were the problem and then he let the pr spin out of control. I don't if it was him that leaked it or a miles rat in the program that leaked it but once the numbers got leaked that we were throwing around then the politics came in and squashed it. I give him props for how he swiftly took les out this year with no rumors.
I agree though this isn't about who fricked up, now it is about fixing this with min. damage done to LSU.
I think what you proposed works best and icing would be forcing a&m back. we do have a safety argument that we can pull.

Put your application in with the SEC office. They need someone like you.

It would be icing on the cake, you're right. Not gonna count on it, but can't hurt to ask.

yep, bye week before bama hasn't mattered since 11. However, i think we figured out the last season collapses since 1/9. Les Miles was running the team into the ground as evidence by the comments after the game last week.
With ED O in charge I don't think the bye before bama is nearly as important as before. He runs a light physical practice anyways so it allows our guys a chance to heal. We take this as our bye, we get arky early when weather is more favorable to us and we don't get them after bama.
I think this option gives us the best chance to run the table.

2015: Lose to Arkansas by 17 points
2014: Lose to Arkansas by 17 points
2013: BYE WEEK, then crush A&M by 24 points
2012: Beat a terrible Arkansas team by 7 points
It's pretty clear that we struggle the week after playing Alabama, recently. A home game against an OOC opponent would be a welcomed change.

I don't think TV would have a huge fit about moving it because it will be on TV anyways just another day of the week.
if we get it past tv then it should be no brainer that the a&m game gets moved considering the standing of the members. LSU the original sec member, big 6 program, the second or third most valuable asset the conference has when you consider what we produce vs the new kid.

yep i like a home game vs ooc after bama. its the smart play.
in 2011 LSU and bama both were sluggish as frick after 9-6 and both had ooc games after the game.

Seriously, someone sticky this thread until someone important enough sees it.

I disagree here. It would be moved to Saturday, and placed at a time slot on ESPN with plenty of other games on.
If it's moved off of Thursday night, they lose their time slot that night. They can't get a replacement game for that slot mid-season. It would be impossible.
ESPN would be some unhappy campers. They want a game that night to compete with the Thursday night NFL game.
Like I said, wouldn't hurt to ask. But I seriously doubt it happens.

Not a bad option, but making the SEC move the championship game a week, and playing LSU - UF in Dec (or not at all if it has no impact) allows us to retain our schedule and puts the burden on the SEC, where it belongs since they did nothing to help this game get played this weekend. And the bowl selection people will be just fine...

is it going up against NFL game in the same time slot? I haven't looked that far ahead but if its just going to mainly be LSU and ag fans tuning in vs a NFL match up it might be easier to get them to budge on it.
I do think safety could be argued on our side to try and get it moved as 3 games in 12 days isn't very safe.

they aren't going to move everything back pending the small chance LSU runs the table/ UT needs us to play the game.

The college football playoff selection committee would have to be on board with this.
