Damn. I'm not even close to saying that. Even with some bugs to iron out, Ensminger is doing a lot better than those clowns. I just think that particular spot was a bad time to take a risk.

Ask yourself this- do you want to see this level of risk in our own end vs Bama, or would you rather protect the lead and play some field position? That's where my thinking is.

Hell, running LF up the gut probably isn't the best call there vs Bama, either. However, in this game to that point, why not put the rock back in the hottest hand?

Love the agressiveness. Sure, the turnover sucked but i could deal with it since O was clearly getting after it.

But imo the not calling a timeout sends every signal we are planning on sitting on it. Why the end had his ears back Is pretty odd We had killed them on that kickout, there is no reason for him heading up field like that

All Haynes does is pass rush wide. OM fans were complaining all night about how he was leaving some of the gaps for LF's runs open.

Yeah, the right tackle specifically...every lineman knew the situation: we're deep in our territory, it's not long before the half, we have the momentum, and it's a pass play. You simply can't get beat so bad that you aren't even close enough to hold the DE and keep him from getting a safety and/or killing your QB...inexcusable.

They were ripe to bite and have 1 on 1, they didn't. I'm sure the LBs were sucked up This wasn't a forced case of being aggressive just to be aggressive.

Just gotta make that block, the same as any play

DO NOT like the aggressiveness. That was simply foolhardiness. It pitted Ole Miss' strength - edge pass rush - against our weakness - right tackle pass protection - with 1:20 until halftime and the ball on our 18.

Were we going to drive 53 yards in 1:20 to attempt a 47 yard field goal? Was that the plan? We damn sure weren't driving 83 yards for a TD. So we were taking a long shot for three points and opening the door for exactly what happened.

I don't want to crucify O over one mistake. He's done well so far, but in that situation he looked like a defensive assistant pretending to be a head coach.

how do you know that Nostradomis? Most our TD's last night were off of big plays that took seconds.

No. The man has said any number of times that' it's pedal to the metal.

Anyway, it wasn't the call, it was the execution.

It was a deep route, just no pass blocking. Love the aggressiveness. Perhaps Etiling should have had better vision with the rush coming from his right side but I like the call. Since we won.

We don't KNOW it, Nancy. This is about odds. The odds did not favor the play called.

With all due respect, you sound like a miserable frick to make such a thread the morning after a solid conference win

I said with all due respect

He asked a legit question that many discussed on here last night. Was he online then? I don't know. You, with all due respect in a douche way, thinks he is calling out the coach. That is one of 2 reasons: 1. You haven't changed your tampon since defending of Miles and are still bleeding.
2. You're a dick.
And I mean that with all due respect.

Problem wasn't the play call. Problem was failure in protection and/or failure to get ball out quickly. More protection than Etling holding too long.

And some of you want to gloss over every mistake. Nothing is all good or all bad. It was just one play. Ensminger had some struggles the first two drives, but other than this call and being a little too aggressive in FG range later on, resulting in Etling's INT (which was as much his own fault for not checking down to LF in the flat), he called a good game. He abused the 13th ranked rush D in the SEC and set up Etling to succeed in the intermediate passing game, which is a big strength for him.

But if you think the same amount of struggles from last night gets us a win vs Bama, you're nuts. He and the offense have to be near perfect. They weren't even close to that last night. They were just a lot better team, and it showed.

Do you think Coach O will look back at that decision and have any regret? Majority of coaches would just run the clock out in that situation. take the outcome of that play out of the equation and it's still a questionable call.

i have no issue with thinking you hav time to score, but most coaches will be conservative until the get to the 30 or so. Draw plays, screen quick pass etc. plus, our most explosive play was a run to the right side. That was a coaching mistake.

If the plan was be aggressive and try to score before half, then why let Ole Miss run off 45 seconds before the punt. Call a time out there. To me a coach trying to keep his job runs it there, a coach trying to win over the fans and get a job goes aggressive.

I think if Tom Brady is your QB, you play aggressively there. We should've handed off to Leonard a couple of times to see what happened. I'm okay with going into the locker room up 8.

Nah man....it was a bad call. I didn't see any way to audible out of that protection. The rb fake was to the other side. Tackle had 2 to block and didn't do a good job on either.

Definitely should have been a pass where he needed to hold the ball.

It happens and we'll be better because of it.

Was at the game and they never showed a replay. Looked high to me. No targeting?
