For the money LSU is spending, couldn't they get the ones with erasers?

I am in the construction industry and I am sure there are liquidated damages for not finishing on time.

Given the cost of suites and tickets, I'm willing to bet LD's are 5 figures/day.

I hope you don't talk to owners like that.

There are certain phases of construction that are fun to have owners onsite, and phases that arent. Building structure is fun because they can see a lot of stuff happening. Rough ins are not, because they dont see a bunch of pipe and conduit in walls as a lot of stuff.

The point being, that once LSU finishes the outer structure, that will greatly reduce, if not outright eliminate, construction delays attributed to weather.

That's the direction I think they are going.

Probably hoping to have most of outer shell done by bayou country superfest because they won't be able to work much during those 3-4 days unless its interior stuff.

And possible tropical storm delays this summer. But I'm sure the company allocated a certain number of days for weather and bayou country superfest

Some of the photoshop people could make something funny with this. The emotional "reveal" would be good too.

Yup, part of the bidding process. Six months should be plenty of time to get the outer shell completed. After that, the work progress will accelerate.

Considering I know jack about construction, how are things not ruined when it rains while construction is ongoing? Seems like everything is wide open to the elements.

I'm no genius when it comes to construction, myself. But I would think that the weather is taken into account during construction, and that nothing that could be ruined is installed until construction reaches a point where it's safe to do so.

From the last paragraph of the linked article in OP:

quote:

Additionally, TAF gained approval January from the University Board of Supervisors to assist in demolition of vacated housing properties on Nicholson Drive across from the LSU Bernie Moore Track Stadium, David said. This will create parking space for 80 RVs and 1,100 cars by the first home football game on Sept. 6. Commuter students will also be able to use the lot.

Married student housing? Good riddance.

I don't undertand why they decided to have the arches coliseum look thrown off by habing both sides at different heights. I saw an earlier rendition that looled much better. More natural I suppose.

elprez00, you have to be honest with your owners. If not, they will never trust you. I am not that harsh, but I am always honest. And yes, I would bet the LD's are probably in the $10k-$15k a day range.

As for the process, I am sure they are doing as much on the rough ins as they can in order to be able to install finishes as close to the dry in date as possible. If you look past the photos where they are showing the concrete work, they already have a lot of the metal stud framing done on the lower levels and it looks like the electrical and glass is coming up closely. Once the building is dried in, they will start with drywall and some of the lower floors will be completed when or before the final concrete is poured up top. Also remember, when they pour the final concrete on top, there is very little to be done besides putting up handrails and bleachers.

This is also from the article
quote:

The first is the ongoing south end expansion of Tiger Stadium. David said construction is 65 percent complete, and will result in 3,000 club seats and 1,500 general admission seats. This expansion will be ready for Sept. 6, the first gameday next fall.

Only 4,500 seats? That doesn't even get us to 99,000. Where is Les getting the 103,000 number from?

For me, the process is interesting, because I think I understand the strategy behind the build order.

If you look at these pics...

...you'll notice that one side is substantially more built up than the other. That's because that's the side where the main entrance to the expansion is.

As I understand it, the intent is to install the elevators and the electrical/hvac/plumbing to that part of the expansion first. That's probably where the main circuit breakers and utility rooms will be located. So that part will be the first to be finished off.
