U r an idiot if u think 2009 was a mediocre yr.

Playing in the 2nd highest SEC bowl game and being ranked is not mediocre

It's all relative to potential and expectations. So I too am among the ranks of the "goofballs" who view '09 as "mediocre" and I would add a big underachievement.

Something along the lines of

"Les, doesn't it drive you fricking nuts that folks that have never played a competitive sport, couldn't tell you what Cover 2 even consists of, act as if they know the slightest thing about what we do every day......by the way, who is your investment guy?"

Someone name one reason why LSU can't compete year-end, year-out for the SECCG other than coaching.

What does that even mean? Year in maybe?

Are you saying we haven't competed for it? We lost to Bamma, UF and a decent OM team. WTF

I think we underachieved but that's not the same as not competing. Phil had a great W-L recored and got canned and the results have been horrible. I think Phil had off the field issues Les hasn't had.

U r wrong, but as long as u view the 9 win yr of 2004 as mediocre too, at least u r consistently wrong and not just pressing an agenda.

Hey dumbasses. No Tiger fan wants LSU to go 8-4. The point is that firing the coach doesn't guarantee that the record will improve. It could actually get worse and often does for teams who "don't accept mediocrity". Any realistic potential candidate to replace Miles would love to have his record their first five years here.

Two subpar seasons could be a blip on the radar if we turn it around.

TD readers would do well to listen to an experienced voice for a change.

Phatlock will never learn. He still believes he should be at Tennessee. The reality is, he had not won any kind of championship in 10 years and had 2 5 win seasons in a 4 year period. He was also slipping badly on the recruiting trail.

Nothing he did after 01 was impressive. If getting to ATL and laying an egg every time is good enough, he should head to USCjr. where they'll worship him for it.

9 wins isn't too bad playing in the SEC. Problem is that a coach cannot have a team that doesn't contend for the SEC title once every few years without coming in below expectations after winning a championship. Miles is a victim of his own success and set the bar high. If LSU wins nine this year, and nine the following but doesn't win the West, then we have a pattern.

Not playing the SECCG should be the exception. Currently, it's the other way around.

With respect to '04:
a) It followed a NC, so some letdown is to be expected. '09 followed a very disappointing '08.
b) The '04 D was very good, the O inconsistent. The '09 D was good. The O . . .
c) I think most would agree that had Saban announced he was staying, the bowl game would have had a different flavor, i.e., outcome.
d) There was one less game then.

So all things considered I wouldn't stamp '04 as "mediocre."

Bottom line: we should have been a much better team on both sides of the ball in '09.

If Miles keeps throwing out mediocre seasons as he has the last two years, I hope we make the same bold move regardless of the outcome. You'll never win dick being a p*ssy and being content with 8-4.

Exactly how i feel. I believe he will prob get 2 more seasons. But they fired fulmer one year removed from an SEC East crown. If LSU wins the West this year and then slides back to 8-4 should he be canned? I wasnt sold on kiffin and im not sold on dooley yet. I still like our situation better.
