I now wonder which is worse...
pre-game analysis or post-game analysis. Maybe I should leave the "analysis" part out!

On the INT by Reid, I don't understand how idiots like him cannot see that the TE for Bama and Reid were battling for the ball on the way down. You can watch it 1000 times and it will still show the same thing. For the refs to use instant replay and still find it LSU's ball the call has to be correct. This guy Steele def is a Bama homer!

question...cuz i don't remember.

after the review, did the ref say "the call on the field stands" or did he say "the call on the field is confirmed."?

the latter, man, I just don't get how people who watch that play over and over on replay can get that call wrong. It clearly show them fightin for the ball on the way down. Only Bama homers can see shite the other way around. In my mind that justifies the PP INT call in their championship season, this is our run fot the championship now, frick them.

actually I think he's a Saban homer, and doesn't think to much of Miles, but why is it that on a contraversial play, anyone that see's it the way that favors your team is objective and anyone that disagrees is biased?

He was wrong on this pick, if you read his stuff, he says the goal for betting on football (or picking games ATS) is to get at least 55% right and you will make money.

You guys need to relax.

the latter,

well thats just about blows anyone arguing that it wasn't an interception out of the water.

If the ref would've said "the call on the field stands" it means there wasn't enough evidence to overturn....and they may have a slight argument. But since he said "confirmed" it means the replay PROVED it was an interception. Anyone that says otherwise is biased...plain and simple

I usually hear Phil Steele on Bill Kings show on XM. I had never really read his magazine, but was shocked at how much of a stat geek he is. When asked questions about games, he just pulls out stats. He never really mentions matchups, style of play, etc...

A typical caller asks about a game and he responds, "Well team x is averaging 297 yards per game and team y is giving up 225 yards per game. Team x is averaging 4.7 yards per rush and team y ranks 97th in the country in rush defense, therefore team x will win"

I don't buy into the whole this guy likes or hates lsu stuff, but his opinion is meaningless to me because he only looks at stats.

that type of analysis is good for handicapping, which is what he does. Fans take it personally, but his objective is to get more games right than wrong, not 100%. Stuff happens in games, but usually when a team gets 181 yds in the first quarter and a half, they score more than 3 points. But stuff happens in games.

No commentary of the 17 lost yards, but LSU goes forward 2 yards and it's a "drive".

Yep. Call on the field was INT. Replay confirmed it was INT. SEC review later that week confirmed the correct call was made. Don't understand the drama.

There was not this much uproar for the Peterson non-INT which clearly showed his foot in bounds.

Over the years his preseason picks have been more accurate than most. I'm guessing most of you were not so mad back in 2003 when he picked LSU as a dark horse contender for the NC.
we were one of three dark horse contenders so it ain't like he laid his dick on the table and predicted much of anything. He lumped us into a group of other teams and said "maybe". BFD.

wow, did Steele really write that?

Can't confirm, but if you've ever read one of his magazines, that is definitely his writing style.

Steele's predictions are 95% based on schedules...rather than a team's talent. He is one of those...let me set my rankings based on my prediction of the outcome vs. let me set my rankings based on which team I think is actually the better team. That's why he liked Georgia so much preseason.

wut? What should you make preseason predictions based on exactly if not what you think will happen?

It should be based on perceived strength of the team vs. perceived lack of strength of a schedule.

You should never rank one team ahead of another because you that that team has an easier road. It's funny that you don't agree with that.

He picked Alabama to beat OU in the BCS CG, so I don't see how he's not doing exactly that.

He picked Bama to beat LSU because he thought s Bama is better, not because he thinks they have an easier schedule.

That depends, are you ranking teams based on who you think are the best teams or like Phil Steele how you think they'll finish? 2 different things. I think LSU and Alabama are the 2 best teams, but if Ok St wins out (or if they lose and Stnford wins out) I think they will play LSU in the BCS CG. Are you saying I should predict the BCS CG will be LSU vs Alabama simply because I think those are the 2 best teams, even though there is very little chance that will happen?
