Yeah, I don't hate the coach or LSU so of course it would seem that way to you.
I hate LSU?
And no I do not hate coach O. I don't think you understand what hate means. Skeptical at first? Hell yes. He has done a good job and is set up for a big year, I'm excited.
Stop being so dramatic.

Yeah, I can feel the love.
Tigerbait357:
"Georgia- hires Kirby
Florida- hires Mullen
MSU- hire Moorhead
Arkansas- hires Morris
Tennessee- Pruitt
All of these hires had backgrounds of success at previous programs as a coordinator or head coach
But we just move to promote our DL coach who was the worst coach in Ole Miss history that couldn't even make a list for a Syracuse interview"
"There are hell of a lot of coaches who were a thousand times more qualified then what we hired"
Is this skepticism? I don't know the difference between hatred and wonder.
"Coach O never should have been an option in the first place"
More skepticism or pure love? Hard to tell the difference.

In all seriousness, I've said I was going to try this on many occasions. Kudos to you for doing the work. I love having data that's not available to anyone else .
Did you only download LSU datasets or all schools?
I’ve got play-by-play for all schools, comfortably dating back to 2009 right now.
I also have all AP Poll data (huge shoutout to College Poll Archive).
Working on getting all game scores since 1869 finalized. The data is relatively sound dating back to 1940-ish. Have some more work to do for the rest.
Really want to dig into the recruiting and betting stuff soon.
Anything that anybody is curious about, I can try to pull some numbers for you (ex: called run play % in the red zone on 1st down in 2018 is something I recently shared).

I used to do the PBP for baseball games. That is why my post count is so high
When did you do that, Ree? I’ve been doing baseball BPB since 2015, but this is the first I’ve heard about you doing it before. To be fair, I’ve only been here since 2014.

I couldn't tell you the year(s). I also did some football games long before the scoreboard was ever created. I did some softball games this year and last.
You can check my post history. It should all be in there.

So you think I should alter my day to do research for someone who is too lazy to use Google?
Nope. You should just half-arse it like you do in every other thread you start. And then when people start asking questions, like asking for a little more information to clarify what you're trying to say, start hurling insults at those people.
By your standards, you've done a bang-up job in this thread.

Recruiting data should be pretty easy to get I would think

I'm more interested in talent/experience comparisons to opponents this season...by position group of course

I was thinking the same thing.
He sounds like he's pretty serious about what he's doing. Seems like a lot of work.

You should have spent this time doing a Google search for the lazy frick and providing the information to him.
Because that’s your job since you brought the information. I have no personal stake in this but you do with your reputation. If you don’t care that your reputation is tarnished by bringing in information without all the facts to back it up, then that’s cool. That is your choice.
You make a post with incomplete information, claim you don’t give a frick if people accept your information as fact or not, yet continue to argue in the thread with said people. Somethings not adding up. Either you know the information you provided is in fact cherry picked and thus doesn’t provide an accurate representation or you do care that people just accept your information as a positive claim. Otherwise there is no legitimate reason why you would continue to argue with people in this thread. If you didn’t care if they accepted your claim or not, you’d just post the claim and move on. If you did care that they accept your claim you would provide the further clarification requested unless said clarification would undermine your claim.
There is a 3rd option, though I don’t really want to call you insane, but..... you know what they say the definition of insanity is.....

No one has discredited the PFF data - but several have attempted to marginalize it (unsuccessfully)
It’s not unsuccessful if the data was in itself marginalized from the beginning.

Moral of the story...stats require context. Ree was scared to discredit his own post, that's where the "Google it yourself" comes from.

Once I can get the endpoints corrected, all of the heavy lifting is done automatically. The toughest part is making sure the data is organized properly, since, in some instances, I have multiple sources going into one database.
I can’t lie, it gets wild at times.
But once it’s all setup and you can make cool stuff like this:
Wins in AP Poll Era
It all feels somewhat worth it.
Other times I’m thinking “wtf are you doing bro?”
