NCAA rules allow for a designated number of assistant coaches. Therefore, we cannot bring in a DC, and keep both of the co-coordinators. If a new coach comes to as DC, someone has to go.

Max, I tend to agree with you about Mallory and Peveto.

Side question, where are those lists you can view about who recruits which players/areas/commits?

I just went on Mallory because he strikes me as the one of the two that I hear more recruits talking about but that could just be my sense.

No. They need to clean house on defense. The fundamentals are seriously lacking, and have been on a downturn since the LM era began. But they won't clean house. There's too much of a buddy factor.

Hopefully, any new DC can overrule the inadequacy of whoever remains.

Well, I'm not entirely sure about Peveto but I think Mallory is a pretty good recruiter

Peveto's the more noted recruiter of the 2. And Lane has supposedly been good at getting the kids outta FL. Nobody ever says Mallory's a good recruiter. Or at least I've never heard it.

No, but I liked em the previous 2 years. Not sure that Lane is the problem as much as the scheme is.

My belief in the idea of self preservation. He has to know that, as I said, if he sticks with the status quo at DC then he will be out of a job by 2010 if the defense continues to suck.

And for anyone who's waiting to throw out Dinardo/Tepper, Jim Mora/Carl Smith, etc. as examples of where common sense did not prevail, I'll do it for you. I'm smart enough to know that it isn't a given that Miles will make the change. But we remember examples like the ones that I just mentioned because they are the exception, not the norm. I'm a capitalist, I believe that if the person you have hired to do the job sucks, you find someone else.

I think Peveto is smarter than you give him credit for, Max. Don't let his looks fool you.

I know, I love his ability to go into Florida. The only way I'd really feel comfortable letting him go is if we could compensate directly.

Something is going on with the DL. I dont know who it is either. I heard this little nugget somewhere recently from someone who seemed pretty reliable.........there are times this year when the DL is running one play and the LBs are running another. Comforting eh? Take it for what it's worth, not sure who to blame for that but I gotta believe a single DC would be on top of that.

Glad to see that there are a few other folks out here with some sense among all of the rantards.

Don't get me wrong, I won't lose any sleep if Peveto is let go at the end of the season, but I don't understand the hate fest regarding Peveto as a position coach. He has done a decent job. As for Mallory, I've never thought that he was a very good coach and he needs to go.

what has Peveto ever done a decent job at? The linebackers suck as did his ST units and his defense.

Since the fingerpointing at our coaches is at an all time high, I can't help but think that Studrawa is not exactly getting the best out of our O-LINE either

Since Peveto is apparently such a great recruiter and I rarely see Henson getting a large number of great pickups, why don't we fire Henson and Mallory, and move Peveto to recruiting coordinator, and then bring in a new DC (preferably who could coach LBers) and a new DB coach.

This way, you keep the great recruiter in Peveto, he can help the DC with LBers (but the DC will be the main guy) and a new DB coach that's actually worth a damn?

look at the history of these two they have done a lot of job hopping a year here and there and they have been exposed period they need to go I don't want them at pos coaches the positions they coached previously on D suck and its not from coaching neglect its due to their lack of ability to coach. Their resumes suck. They need to go.

Peveto's been underwhelming wherever he's been..his defenses at Northwestern State were kind of bland at times and they let him go, from what I remember.

He's a good recruiter but that's about all it seems.

Thats actually a good idea. The defensive recruits love them. If we lose one or both we might lose some of our recruits.

I can't imagine someone staying around to do this.

Well I really don't see other schools lined up to hire them so they may not have a choice.

might I remind you of the players that Bradley Dale is currently recruiting ??

since he covers the Houston area, I think the Rant would have a meltdown if we lost one particular Houston recruit.

Do you really think Shep is coming here because of that moron?
