No! But he will be in error.

Well we were ranked #5, playing a very physical and well known Big 10 program at Lambeau Field in their home state in an ABC feature game.
It was a joke they weren’t ranked and I honestly never understood why they weren’t (at least partially due to Miles stealing Aranda from them I’d imagine).
They were coming off of 11 and 10 win seasons, and the voters “fixed the glitch” week 2 when they jumped them all the way into the top 10, where they stayed all year long, finishing #9 at 11-3.
It was a huge game and everyone knew it. We were an NC contender and Miles’ future was in the balance.

This year's game appears insignificant on a national scale. Miami is Top 10 and in possession of one of America's most respected coaches. LSU is nowhere to be found, and its head coach is the object of widespread scorn. To say this game is as important as LSU V. Oregon in 2011, or even LSU v. Wisky in 2014 or 2016, is just far off the mark.

From that point of view, agreed.
However, this game may make or break O's tenuous hold of his job.
Losing to Miami wouldn't be a horrible loss by any stretch, but with the SEC gauntlet ahead with a loss already, the rumblings will only grow.

However, to say this is the biggest opening game for LSU in the last decade is a little nuts, Oregon in 2011 was 3 vs 4. Definitely the biggest since then.

quote:No, this is bigger for the program, I think.
That’s why Wisconsin 16 was bigger.
And we were actually preseason title contenders that year.
I know the Wisky loss led to Miles being fired, but still- there was the perception that LSU was still a premier program, and we needed new blood rather than settle for an 8 or 9 win season.
This game might determine if we still are in the spotlight, or if Orgeron is about to run us off into the weeds.
If they whip us solidly, it might be years (and multiple head coaches) before we re-emerge.
If we whip them, then rumors of our demise might be premature.

Wow. What a troll you are. This is being picked by just about everyone to be one if he most exciting matchups opening weekend. It’s too close to Sept to push your agenda. Most real fans are excited so your misery isn’t needed.

I say we win by 3 touchdowns

He must not know Coach O’s record at Ole Miss like the Rant does.

Amazing how when a guy picks LSU to win he is an unbiased genius

Where do you see people calling him an unbiased genius?

One of the biggest and best games in LSUs history was a defensive battle with Mark Richt, 2003 17-10

I could see this.
By any means, the U is not back.

He’s just trolling trying to get a rise out of their fan base. Miami is a legitimate top 5 D, returns a qb although inconsistent still threw for closer to 3k and NFL talent at RB and WR. Burrow will probably end up better than Rosisr but week 1 n his first real start against that D? Idk about that. If there was a few weeks of layups against G5 schools b4 Miami I’d feel a lot better.

No one called him a genius, but biased I agree with.
Thats the whole point of being a fan, is being biased to your team, getting pumped up on preseason info and hoping like hell that our "damn strong football team" wins.
Its amazing how some have lost that fandome feeling and only watch games like its the bottom line of your corporation. We all know the reality of our team, and I for one am going to enjoy any hype we get, like our fans used to do in years past.

really? 3 pages and no one has said it?
With one team who's QB has yet to take a snap for them, and the other team whos fans don't want their starting QB to start, neither team will win by 2 TDs because neither team will SCORE two TDs.
12-3 LSU. Cole Tracy MVP.
