agreed.
But so does #1 who plays 1 top ten team.
And #2 who plays no top ten teams.

I like it. I'm ready for a damn exciting season. Are the odds against us? Of course. We have a hell of a schedule and play some damn good teams. However, unlike some of the debby downers here, I never count LSU out before a game is played, and I think we have a team that can go toe-to-toe with anyone out there.

5/30 teams have started the year higher than 13, three have won it including LSU in 2003. That's 16%.
What am I missing here?
LOL. I changed to clarify. 5/30 were ranked ABOVE 13, specifically 14-24.
Good news is we control our own destiny. We may have to beat certain teams twice, maybe even 3 times, but we control our own destiny.

FSU being ahead of us, and UT being 2 spots below, shows you how off people are projecting us this year. Even if we hadn't gotten Cam we'd still be better than #11 ND. USCe is 6 spots ahead of us but would only have 1 mismatch (Clowney) on the field if we played them. I'd hate to be UGA at #5 or aTm at #6. UGA could be un-ranked by October. aTm's gonna assume their season's over if they lose Sep. 9th.
It's really a numbers game. They can't stick 6 teams in the top 10 from the SEC, because it makes the rest of the NCAA look like a joke (not our fault) so they decided the day after the NFL Draft that LSU was the easiest to discount, and dropped us to 13. We will likely be better than last year tho. We lose at least 1 game because of the schedule, but even if we drop 2 out of 3 to UGA, UF, and Bama, at least we have a ton to play for at home vs. aTm and the reigning Heisman winner. If we somehow survive UGA we could win out at home and lose to Bama and still have a shot at the BCSCG. The schedule is against us, but luckily our team can beat any team we play. Ole Miss got the same treatment. They knew they'd lose 3 by November so everyone's favorite up-and-coming program isn't even ranked. Yet UGA gets a free pass b/c they didn't give up in the 2nd half vs. Bama?? I sure wouldn't trade our schedule with theirs, at least we have average teams to play btwn the big games where we can regroup after a loss.
This ranking is one of the best things going for this team. It will keep them focused even if they struggle early, since we will be an underdog in every game except maybe UF at home. We may be #13, but the National Championship talk will start early if we score 30 pts vs. TCU.

He's a douche that just trolls the board to say things like this. Ignore him. He's stupid.

I like the spot LSU is in right now. No one is expecting much out of us this season outside of our own. There will not be as much pressure on this team so they will play more relaxed. I alway like the TIGERS as underdogs.

Perhaps on paper looking at the rankings. The rest of the SEC know who the Tigers are, and I expect to get everyone's best shot as usual.

only team better then LSU player by player is bama and ohio state. They can just kiss my arse with that no. 13 ranking real talk.

the whole season totally depends on QB play. The D will get the job done. If Mett doesn't show up, we lose 3 or 4. If he does, we lose 1 or 2

Be glad we don't have to play 5 top 10 teams in the first 1/2 of the season like Georgia or 6 SEC opponents in a row who have bye weeks the week before like Bama did 2 years ago!
Come on guys and stop all the whining about our schedule! It's makes us look ignorant and petty.. About 4 years ago we played Vandy and Kentucky in the same year. It is what it is
We agree a long time ago to have Florida as a perm opponent and for years it was good for us. We can't whine about an agreement we made like we had nothing to do with it! Come on!
Make it Stop!!

quote:There is a ton of talent on this team, but a lot of turnover from last year. That combined with a new OC and Mett still needing to prove himself probably puts LSU at the beginning of the season a little lower. However as adjustments are made during the season there is the potential to be a top 5 team but certainly they should at least be in the top 12 by the end of the season.
why so optimistic?

We play as many top 25 teams as Alabama and Ohio State combined.
