It was a joke. My point is he's immature and it doesnt take much to see that.

We had Ed fricking Orgeron as a coach. I think we can handle Kiffin's antics.

Kiffin is still a coach you are taking on spec. He is now 50 yrs old and has yet to win anything of consequence, but has shown flashes of brilliance.

But, he has evolved as a coach in his last three years at Ole Miss. Big time. He has addressed just about all of his faults to some extent and improved on or eliminated them. He also apparently quit drinking after his first year at Ole Miss. Its almost as if he is maturing and getting better at his job as he ages. Weird.

Please don't assume I am saying he is the next Saban but Saban was 49 his first year at LSU had been at Mich St four yrs (a program eerily similar to Ole Miss in stature) and was known more for sharing a last name with distant cousin and NFL coach Lou Saban.

Im torn on Kiffin but it has nothing to do with what he has done but rather can he keep evolving and improving

Lane will have a bidding war between UG, Ole Piss and LsU.
It would be bigger than Kelly’s deal.
$13 million 6-10 years.
He has sexton as an agent so LsU pays big if want him.

What he’s done at Ole Miss is incredible. The state is poor in talent

Mississippi is not poor in talent. And with Miss state down the last few years, OM has been benefitting. They are also very close to Memphis which puts out a lot of D1 talent.

First rule of new hire coaches: whoever the fans want, the admin goes in a completely different direction.

Fans wanted Jimbo and Tom Herman after Miles was fired

Fans wanted Lincoln Riley after O was fired.

Fans want Kiffin, Lanning, Saban.

Not happening. Would be shocked if Kiffin was offered and accepted.

I dont think LSU will want to pay Kiffin anyway. He's a good play caller and id get behind him if he were to get the job. But right now he's the guy you love to hate, more than the guy you love. He's temu Spurrier. You guys really want to see LSU players dunking on a 8 foot rim on the sidelines?

We didn't fire BK and pay his payout to not go after whoever Woodward thinks is best. Whoever that coach is will get a fat contract, because that how the game is played today. If Woodward wants Lane, LSU will pay for him.

Lane is clearly getting better and trending upward. I'd say his Ole Miss tenure has been very impressive, especially if they make the playoffs this year.

Lets just remind everyone that LSU has only made the playoff 1 time in 11 or so years it has been around. Sure, we won but only 1 apperance is sad.

Please explain why you think differently?

This is exactly the same argument people gave for Kelly at ND, and he delivered no better at LSU than there.

Facilities, money, prestige, in-state talent, lack of in state competition... do I need to go on?

Ole Miss brought in the top rated portal class last year (didn’t make the playoffs), so they have as much money as they need to compete. In state talent is largely useless in the NIL age. The vast majority of elite prospects bleed green before they bleed purple and gold, regardless of whether they grew up in Opelousas or Scranton, PA. LA talent and having no P5 competition no longer confers LSU a significant advantage in the NIL era.

Are you saying people here did not argue that ND was holding Kelly back and that LSU’s advantages would allow him to finally beat good teams consistently and win a championship? Because they did.

No point in trying to convince you. Maybe Woodward should reach out to you for advice.

I think Sexton would make it ridiculously expensive with Florida likely interested. Unless the same big money people that wanted BK out, want Kiffin in. I guess all this is above my paygrade.
