I wasn't on the "fire Trent tonight" train, but I was of the mindset that this is his make or break year. Completely free of the recruiting losses caused by the departures of John Brady and Butch Pierre...his recruits starting to be in place and with some experience. There was no more room for excuses.

They BLASTED Boise State and held them to HALF of their normal scoring output. Now they beat the #10 team in the country.

When a coach is under pressure, he makes his best statement on the court and I think he made a statement!

He showed a lot of emotion last night and almost got a righteous Technical. I was really surprised with as demonstrative as Johnson was in the refs face that he didn't get T'd up. Even though he was right about the call that was atrocious.

definitely made a statement. We need to have revenge on our minds Thursday night. We were embarrassed on our home court by UNT last year.

There is an interview of Trent Johnson from last week when he was scouting a Glen Oaks basketball game that you might find interest. The site is a blog: www.thedailyhattrick.com

Damn. I thought Storm was a junior.

Bass is a decent PG backup (the move he made on the finger-roll basket was great) but White has been a disappointment since he transferred in.

Yeah bro, if I had to choose between Rodman and Hamilton, I think I'd go Rodman as well

I have read a lot of shite here about TJ. My dad apparently is smarter than the collective of the rant. I express doubts about recruiting and this and that and he lays out the truth of how it is.

TJ has been in a tough spot and deserves a chance to fix what has ALWAYS been broken at LSU even during the Dale Brown era. And that doesn't happen overnight. I believe he should be given an extension right now or when it is time to renew or whatever.

You find out about most about them when they meet up with other guys almost as tall or even taller. Then you figure out that all they are is tall.
You just found out that Hamilton is nothing special.
So it goes.
I would rather have a Dennis Rodman 6 8", than a Joe Barry Carroll, who was 7 2". Joe Barry was a much better free throw shooter than Rodman. Rodman KILLED Joe Barry on the boards.

so what effects team fg %? boards or a big tall body inside affecting shots?

What i mean is you don't have to block a shot to affect the shot causing a miss. Teams haven't been shooting well against lsu.

could it be that hamilton and O'bryant to some extent is responsible for this?

Hamilton isn't shaq, however, he is a very solid big at the college level.

if we are talking about rodman, well, he had bigs he played with that allowed him to focus on rebounding. he certainly wasn't a lottery pick coming out of college.

Your Dad was right. The collective conscience of the rant would have had another coach in here by now. Truth be told, We are about to enter the golden era of LSU basketball. Here come the pelts! Ouch! It WAS just another lousy win. But they will keep coming. The pelts and the wins.

And for those complaining about what Trent does on the sideline, gimme a break. The coaching is done at practice.

The game plan for the season is obviously to play good defense and shoot free throws well.

We are probably going to struggle when we face a team that plays a similar style of play. Or can shoot light-out from three point range.

I'm hoping we can make the NCAA tournament. That would be success in my eyes.

I've always been a Trent supporter, but I also understood that this was an extremely important year for Trent.

I like what I've seen to this point sans USA.

As for Hamilton, the guy sat out one year from playing competitive basketball. By the end of the year, I believe you'll see the double/doubles. Right now, Trent's being too cautious when JH gets into foul trouble because he knows how important JH is to our team.

For all of his shortcomings, he's the best post passer we've had in a long time, and he has an excellent touch.

I agree with you to a point with his work on the glass. That's where I can see your point about him being soft. I think the boards will come. Last night, I saw more fire out of him on the glass than I have all season. If we see more of that, the double/doubles will come.

One of my biggest problems is that we don't run our offense through Hamilton enough, which could be a result of our guards being the worst post entry passers in the history of college basketball.

Give him until SEC play. He has the potential to be the top post player in the SEC, and that's not an understatement.

I was one of them wanting to see him fired. But I have to give him credit. It appears he has the team on the right track. Marquette was a huge win for this program.

One of the big negatives to me on the entire season is Justin Hamilton.

Hamilton has been one of our most valuable players all year. He is the smartest player on our team, hands down. Makes good decisions all over the court. Boxes out, rebounds, passes well in the post and in the press, makes free throws, and is CLUTCH. What do you want out of the guy? He basically won the game for us in the last few minutes last night. I have been extremely impressed with the way Hamilton keeps our half court offense and defense in position.

I strongly disagree with you on Hamilton.
