I feel like Hurd and Guidry can both be used similarly. Both can be stretched out as a starter and both can close out a game. Will have to see how they are both used this weekend but I would expect one of them to be starting on Sunday. Money will likely be a bridge guy in game 2 or 3 to get from start more toward the end of the game.

Guidry should not start. He is not similar to Hurd.

I really like him [Guidry] in those high leverage or 9th inning

I'm with you Tifway419 I'll take my chances in big moments with a guy in Guidry who is of strong mind. Yes he is green, but he pitches like someone stole his food. My hope is that his barbarian competitiveness is infectious. We have some guys on our pitching staff whose body language shows too much of the opposite.

Potential/stuff wise, absolutely not.

Person I trust to give the ball to and close out a game or give me 3-4 innings in a start, yes.

I'd love to see Coleman get a start soon. He's the type of guy I'd start game 1 of a regional...he won't go 7 innings but you could maybe get 4-5 innings and piece it from there.

When Money knows he's only getting 1 or 2 innings he gets more juiced and the fb velocity ticks up a bit which he can get swings and misses IF he's locating that curve.

They will have to figure out the arm fatigue deal from this past weekend before doing that. Getting the week off, hopefully you see his velo and control a little better this weekend than last weekend.

Regular season coming to a conclusion and still no Game 3 starter that is even remotely reliable?

We've lost 3 Game 3s and only in 2 was the loss credited to the starter.

As a past Littke advocate, I put my money on TBD.

I don’t know what you are looking at. In Guidry, I see a role player. In Hurd I see a potential dominant starter. I would start stretching out Hurd. He would be my guy if Floyd falters in the early innings or to start game 3. Guidry would be my fireman if Floyd falters or if Herring falters in relief of Skenes. If we get to game 3 without needing Guidry I would let him eat some innings.

ETA: Just read el’s comment, and I agree 100%.

What I am looking at is what has been shown on the field, not based off potential. We all know Hurd has more potential as a starter than Guidry and I never said anything different. Hurd has also shown that he can walk 4 people in a row and sometimes can't get it together. My comment was based on what happens on Friday/Saturday. If Hurd is used late in the game Saturday and throws 45 pitches, he isn't coming back on Sunday. I can see starting Guidry on Sunday to try and start the game off with minimal damage even if it is just 3 innings to let the offense try to get a lead instead of playing from behind all game.

If neither of them are used come Sunday, I think Hurd being the starter will be a no brainer. I think yall took my comment a little different than what it was meant for.

Sundays pitching will completely depend on who is used the first 2 games. I can see Money getting the start Sunday also if both Hurd and Guidry are used or if Jay and Wes decide they rather have Hurd and Guidry both on the back end.

I'd like Hurd to get back to the starter role and show he can take it. That would be the most beneficial for this team going forward.
