Isn't Kiffins contract up in Feb? Watch Saban make his arse stay until right before signing day. (Yes he can make him if he wants Sabans good recommendation in the future
I don't get this. Everyone was worried about Texas snatching up Aranda(who was under contract for 2 more years) Yet, folks think it impossible for us to snatch Kiffin who's contract runs out in February? I don't get it.

Well to be fair the top coordinators will more than likely not e available until after bowls so that's just the way it will be. With that said we should pretty much know who it will be before bowls and can at least use their name to help recruit. Hopefully....

Catastrophe syndrome with a lot of people. I think if LSU had a great season next year, then there will some on this site who will try and create some kind of crisis because they won't know what to with themselves

Well the Kiffin chatter is all unofficial speculation isn't it? I don't recall any official announcement to that effect. There might have been one so if you have information to the contrary I'd appreciate your sharing so I'm corrected.

So if indeed there hasn't been any prior official announcement why should I be concerned if there have been no subsequent information?

I'm not talking about an official announcement.

I'm talking about reports that "insert OC here" is under consideration and is scheduled to meet etc.

There is none of that. I think it's pretty clear that he's waiting...and it's pretty clear that he's waiting for Kiffin. If I'm wrong, then he's performing an exhaustive search in an extremely hidden way. Every hire I see has names thrown around while the search is ongoing. I haven't seen anything.

That is just dumb you are not implementing a new offense before a bowl game

People are concerned about recruiting. Cam Akers is an early enrollee for instance...and a generational player. We may miss on him due to this ineptitude.

We may miss out on him even with the new OC coaching the bowl game. There is no guarantee.

One player is not worth screwing up the OC hire. Again not saying they won't screw it up anyway.

And we do plenty fine recruiting running backs.

Well in the recent past if you did here names mentioned you could probably cross them off as not coming.

Not if someone offers him a HC position between now and sometime after the MNC or balas last game.

the difference is, we didn't need to hurry up the hire for O..he wasn't going anywhere

but if we are to land "the best OC in the counry", he might be going elsewhere if he wait around too long

thus the issue

I see several people fail to understand this

You present it as if it can be done, and O/A/LSU is choosing not to. You can't know that.

That is to be expected to a degree...but you knew a search was happening. You knew coaches were being interviewed. That's the issue. I think we are in a holding pattern right now. I don't think any OCs are being interviewed.

The STC is not a huge issue. It's very possible that he plans to hire someone from he NFL.

I think the fear from most is they are waiting on Kiffin and with Kiffin's past, the fear of him fricking us is large

and all the other top choices would/will be locked up by then and then we have to settle...again

Okay for starters, the dominoes won't fall into place until UH and UO and possibly Indiana make their hires. Second the dead period starts next week, so the only 'crootn it affects is the EE's which Myles is the only offensive guy we have to worry about. Third, whoever said the new OC could come in and start installing his offense in the next 3 weeks of practice is an idiot. Do you have any idea of how hard that would be to teach new terminology, new signals, new rules for the O-linemen in the run game, new passing concepts and progressions, new protection schemes, I mean it's nearly impossible to load that on college kids in 3 weeks. Saying that we are "waiting on Kiffin" is stupid, we are waiting on everyone to become available. I may be wrong and if someone can find me a link to the contrary, not many coordinators leave their teams before they play in their bowl games when they are not taking a head coaching position. People seriously need to relax and let the pieces fall into place.

which is kinda the issue, no?

nobody trusts Alleva and the longer we don't have an OC, the longer people will feel like he is going to frick it up again
