I still hate it. He doesn't coach anything and relies on his coordinators. If his coordinators struggle he will as well. There is a reason no other school in the country wanted to hire him as their head coach.

well he tried getting involved in the offense this year and it turned into a disaster (troy first half) he has never coordinated an offense or defense. he surely isn't coaching on gameday with the mic up around his hairline. He's a figurehead that can recruit. a glorified mascot.

I have to admit that he’s better than expected

Do we really think CEO is better than expected or do we think that the plan of turning our OC and DC lose untethered by CEO is better than expected?

Two completely different things

He is doing better than expected imo as well. He HAS to fix the QB position, if so....officially sign me up.

Why are people still saying the state loss was bad?

From the football I watched this year, state was a better team than LSU.

the point of firing miles was to upgrade

Pigs are flying. I agree with a Rickdaddy post.

The binder crew are all touting O's record this season that's the same level that caused Alleva to pay Les a shite ton of money to go away. Against the weakest level of competition in the SEC in recent memory. A good win against AhBarn thanks to bad second half coaching by Gus, a lucky win over the shark fricker when their kicker gagged, offset by a beat down by MooState and the mighty men of Troy, 2 things that never happened under Les.

Les needed to go, but if we were going to spend that money, our AD needed to do his job and conduct a real search, and he didn't. For the complete cluster that was the UTe search, they still ended up with a better coach than we did.

The O apologists spent the season lowering the expectation bar and argued we should be happy for a season that wasn't any different than what we fired our precious coach for.

Frankly, all anyone needs to know is that other teams' fans really do love the that O is our coach.

Have to give credit for the turnaround even though the Moo State-Syracuse-Troy stretch was the worst football I have seen LSU play in decades. 9-3 in year 1 is passable. Let's win the bowl and finish strong in recruiting and I'll go into 2018 with an open mind.

My initial response to the announcement Coach Oaux was the new LSU Coach? Wait-and-see. Hey, Coach Oaux was HC at two major Division 1-A programs, with mixed results. I figure give him a chance. If he's any kind of coach he will have learned from his mistakes.

So he adopted, what I consider, a winning formula. Hire the best coaching talent, pay them well, then let them do what they do so well. You manage, lead the recruiting effort, and be the face of LSU football. Seems to be working so far.

What I like about him? He's got fire in his belly.

Would be a lot easier to solve the abortion debate than to ask that question.

I've said many times that I didn't want Herman or Jimbo so why not give O a shot. So far he's done pretty good, but those Troy & Miss St. losses can never happen again. I'm still ecstatic that Les was fired. If O screws up, we'll get to hire whoever the next Saban is and get a new AD too.

We actually have a strategy, play to our opponents weaknesses and make in game adjustments. We are not predictable and the season does not fall apart after losing to Bama. This is a much more modern feeling team.
A lot of this is just perception based on how they viewed the last two years. This was not a tradition under the previous coach.
LSU has a good season, but it is a season we expected at the start of the year. 10 wins should be the floor for LSU when they have 3 cupcakes on the schedule year in and out. So the season didn't fall apart after Troy, but the loss to Troy should have never happened to begin with.

You don't lose by 30 to a team that finishes with a worse record than you.

He really has finished strong

Finished "strong" to be 3rd in the west and 17th in the last playoff poll. While not tanking the yr. is a good thing, the yr., on the whole, is little different from any other yr. since 2012 except that the schedule played this yr. was weaker than any other in probably 15 yrs.

I was stunned by the hire. Never did I think the best HC LSU could land was a position coach with a highly questionable HC resume. I honestly don't think that makes me a hater and I have seen nothing, to this point in time, that says I was wrong for being concerned over the hire. I thought this program had the talent to be 10-2 in the regular season and that was before I knew the SEC was going to be as bad, after the top 2-3, as it turned out to be.

I will take 9-3 cause after 5 games I was fearing much worse, but that doesn't mean I think 9-3 was some kinda more rewarding season than most others from 2012.
