LSU got to host because people will fill the Box.

I saw the season numbers for Coastal Carolina and I was sure we were going to see another State U of NY @ Stony Brook hitting demonstration. CC was #2 in the nation in HR, and #10 in SB. And their ERA was better than LSU.

the 11-8 game was about what I expected. I think one of the Stony Brook games was about like that, maybe 11-9.

Shitty baserunning, more than anything else, cost LSU this super regional.

I think poor defense ranked up there with that. hell, Poche' didn't cover first or home when he should have. and there were several other untimely errors. we would have won last nights game with quality defense; their first two runs were gifts. I mean a guy reaches first on a ground ball to second base, advances to second and then steals third. then driven home on something LSU couldn't do all night; hit a fricking fly ball with a runner on third.

By watching those two games my friend. They put the ball in play when they had too. LSU did not that in itself is the mark of a better roster at this point. That being said LSU should be better next year

I love all you baseball experts who probably, no maybe, maxed out in high school and never played for a truly great coach. Did any of you think that he did things, like take chances in base running, to hide weaknesses like lack of situational hitting experience? How about the fact that most of young guys didn't have the experience? Look at KROB and how he all of a sudden became a great hitter in the clutch and a pretty good SS. Or the fact BOTH SPs struggled or the fact that it happens to pitchers in the majors all the time?
Plate discipline, base running execution, fielding new positions are all part of the maturation process of these young men. There will be a tremendous opportunity to be incredible next year if they stay the course and a couple come back that are key to success.

What? The worst baseball team in college baseball cluld beat the best team in a 3 game series. That doesnt mean that horrible team has a better roster.

Ok, here it is...was the SEC & LSU over rated? From the looks of it, you are correct, but I think at the time the seedings were passed out, they were correct...
What a lot of folks don't understand is the these little colleges don't have the pedigree of an SEC team, so their coaches use that to motivate them, and looks like in short series this year, it has worked...also, parity in college baseball is @ an all time high...there are a lot of great ball players in this country, SEC can't recruit them all...

Isn't Paul responsible for the limited amount of juice that could be squeezed?

You can't just "reload" in college baseball. It's just not the nature of the game considering scholarship restrictions, the draft, etc. Look at the very best programs in the country not named "LSU". When they have a "down" season they miss the postseason altogether. A "rebuilding" or "down" for LSU is getting a top 8 national seed. Just something to consider when you start blaming people for us have a "depleted" roster. Sorry for all of the "quotations".

We lost 8 starters in the field. That isn't something you can just plug in with new recruiting. It takes experience

Then how did LSU get to be a top 8 seed? Must have reloaded somehow.

I don't think the roster is depleted, but for one thing. Other than Lange LSU had no one that would get major league scouts excited. There wasn't a bat in the lineup that needed to be pitched around.

That's kind of my point. You said there's a limited amount of juice and I was pointing out that our "limited" is pretty damn amazing compared to other programs.

Doesn't help that Mac Marshall screwed us over, Latz has been hurt and Cartwright was out for the year early. I'd think Newman would excite some scouts but he didn't get drafted, so what do I know?

I'm not disappointed with the results of this past season when looking at the team LSU had. I am disappointed by the fact that the team LSU had was lacking in top flight major league prospects.

Uh, yeah. That would be pretty cool to have a roster full of top flight major league prospects.

And do a better job of coaching. The team got hot during a weak arse time of the schedule and got a seed. This team was just a regional team who got lucky.

Coastal was way better. Let that sink in.

Lucky? You know we beat Florida 3/5 in that stretch right? Jesus.

1. They weren't "way" better
2. They're a damn good team and a very strong program as of late.
