Oh yeah, Mainieri is stepping down and abandoning $5 or 6 million dollars. Come on. This is not a very rich man, like Miles was. CPM has been making over a million dollars for only a few years. His net worth is probably $10 million at most. No way he gives up that guaranteed money.

and let's not forget how he took a preseason #1 team the nation and turned them into the #5 program in the state

If you really believe that LSU is the #5 program in the state then there is no hope for you.

Wonder what your TAF friend was smoking.
This story is preposterous.

I like him personally but he is not getting the job done and has not been able to win enough championships. Time to let someone else that’s hungry get a shot.

Of you think think this is BS why ? PM is obviously reflecting on life after the loss of his father . He may want to step away form the stress of it all. Either way a 5-7 in Omaha over the last ten years is enough for LSU to terminate

If he is, and if he does want to step away from it, then that is fine. How is it obvious to you that these things are issues to him, enough to cause him to want to retire?

Is it though? There aren't a whole lot of coaches that can match that. Of those, would any come coach at LSU? So the question is, are you willing to push CPM out the door to hire somebody who may or may not be able to do better?

Unless you are part of the Mainieri family you don’t know this
The fake sympathy being used to push a narrative is disturbing to me

My original post says he will step down "IF" they take an early exit this postseason. If not? I think he will remain our HC

Wait so it’s you saying this and not a TAF member? What would be his reasoning for stepping down that would go by the wasteside if they make it further in postseason? Doesn’t make any sense whatsoever

Wouldn't it be more realistic to believe that LSU is struggling because they have to absolutely scrap and claw just to have enough quality arms healthy to make it through a three game weekend series?

Occam’s Razor? Nah, it’s because Mainieri belongs to a secret society that is only active in years in which the number formed by the second two digits subtracted from the number formed by the first two digits equals one. When active, adherents must meet six days every week from midnight to six in the morning. This has left Mainieri exhausted, and it’s why his dad passed away, because he was also a member.

The answer is yes . What has he done since 09 that’s so great ? Absolutely nothing and you have to best program of the last 30 years . I would have said ten or 20 but PM has dropped the ball. Plus people losing a parent will totally make you think about life differently. I am not offering sympathy I am just saying it’s a huge moment in life . For the ones who act like the last ten years have been anything special I guess I just have different expectations. Plus who cares if you finish 2nd or 63rs I don’t see 2017 on the intimidator. Y’all act like Paul has done something special . One title in 13 years ? We ran Less off a lot quicker when you dumbasses finally realized he wasn’t going to win again . I wonder how long it will take those same dumbasses to realize PM isn’t winning anything of importance again either

We've weathered a lot of pitching staff injuries this year. Let's see what happens if Henry and Hill come back.

Name me one single active college baseball coach that has more titles than Mainieri in this time frame.

Name me the number of teams who have more appearances in the CWS than LSU since Mainieri has taken over.

You will find the answer to your question when you figure out those two answers.

Who said it wasn't? I asked, however, how it was obvious that it was hurting his coaching career, and will cause him to retire.

Well there is a very significant difference between finishing second and 63rd. So I would think many people care.

Nobody is saying this season hasn't been a disappointment so far. Also, nobody is saying that there are not legit concerns with Mainieri. You just aren't naming any. You are just making shite up.

I just wasted my time with all the other responses. You showed your total ignorance here. In the future, if you don't want to sound like an idiot, don't try to compare college baseball to college football.

Come on man, its obvious by studying his face on camera the 5 times a game they show it that he looks constipated and wants to retire. By seeing his face stare into centerfield and the way he tries to position duplantis, its obvious he is lamenting his dads death and is done at lsu

Especially since every season prior to this one he ran laps in the dugout & did pushups in between innings
