Appreciate the thorough response. Sounds like we’ll be in good hands and have a solid or even slightly better defensive OF.

Do you or anyone have any idea what Beloso’s arm is like? We’ve never really had to see that before with him at 1st. But I imagine this will be a tough question to answer since no one has really gotten to see him in fall ball.

In high school Beloso was a pitcher. I don't know when this velo was taken, but PBR had him at an 80mph fastball and 79mph INF velo (throwing from SS to 1st).

I would lean towards not a great arm, but maybe with his overall body transformation he also worked on arm strength.

Am I missing updates on Hilliard?
Is he healthy?

Hilliard wasn't specifically mentioned in any of the tweets I saw. Chicken posted the whole video of the press conference, I just haven't been able to watch it yet. Hilliard is listed as a reliever on the team pitching against the starting line up.

Hilliard had a few multi-inning appearances this fall, some as long as 3 innings. That led me to believe they were trying to stretch him out, but that may not be the case. Either way, it doesn't appear there are any issues with him.

I would say, that I'm aware he's thrown more than one multi-inning appearance is a sign he's thrown well. Since we only get 2 pitcher stats, at most, from any scrimmage.

Look at Hellmers in there at DH with the starters. He may be our Bain Train of 2021, the Hell Train if you Will. I know this is mainly so that the other position players can slot in on the purple team but still a coolstorybro.

Sounds good to me. I’ll give you an LSU and a Cardinals (since we have that in common) question/s. Haha

LSU: I thought Dugas was having a pretty good fall? Think he still has a chance to crack the lineup somewhere, or do you think he has missed his chance at LSU?

Cardinals: Is there an already heir apparent to Wong at 2nd since the Cards declined his option? Thoughts on La Russa getting back into the game?

I don't think he's missed his chance here. He's got a lot of power potential. I think he's going to be in the OF/DH mix. He hit for a higher average this fall than he had in the past, but over the summer he was hitting for good power with a wooden bat. I wonder if he'll ever get any more chances on the infield. 2nd base seemed like a good fit for him, but Doughty has that sewn up. Dugas is one of my favorite players on the team though, I still think he has a ton of untapped potential.

Tommy Edman at 2nd and unfortunately Matt Carpenter at 3rd. We can hope that Nolan Gorman is ready to take the leap sometime next season and take over at 3rd, but that's a big jump.

People saying it's a return of old school baseball apparently didn't pay attention to who started this whole bullpenning thing. Overall, it's good for the game when he's in it. I think the White Sox will go after Yadi now though.

Any ideas on who has the best shot to be our go-to midweek starter? I know it’s super dynamic the first month or so.

Not sure if we’d continue with Kaminer or end up working with a freshman like Floyd or Milas.

On that note, who have been the best freshman pitchers? I’ve seen Floyd have a couple good games.

I think Floyd and Millas both have weekend starter potential (next year) so I wouldn't be surprised to see either of them worked in that way. But I think they want Floyd as a weekend reliever this season though. I think they like Kaminer there as a potential lefty starter in the postseason.

I don't know which ones have looked the best, but I'm very excited about Coleman. LHP that was touching 95mph in the summer before the draft.

Oh wow, I had no idea he had that much of an arm. Surprised I didn’t hear more draft hype around him. Thanks P! I’ll try to think up some more questions for you in a bit haha

Any insight into Hampton and how he figures to be used this year? Might be a good idea for him to start focusing on baseball more with how things are going elsewhere

I'm guilty of kind of forgetting about Hampton because he's not out there right now. Only looking at who is available currently.

He was probably the most adversely affected by the shutdown. He's had so few competitive at bats the last few years. But, Kyler Murray had a similar situation with lack of games played and by his draft eligible year was able to have played enough baseball to be a high draft pick. So, you can't count Hampton out.

Agreed. I’ve really been pulling for him to get another chance.

Ugh...I love Carp and all he has done for the organization; but watching him play 3rd is excruciating. Hopefully they can find someone there.

I hope not. I know the Cards have always been an organization that typically has no problem letting the aging or potentially overpriced player walk, and generally are right in doing so; but I’m not ready to see Molina go just yet.

Sec will be extremely competitive
Some teams have up to 50 players and haven’t even released rosters
I don’t know what some teams will do when it goes back to 35 and you have to manage recruits

I’m really proud of CPM for the way he managed the roster. Those teams with 50 or so players are going to send a lot of kids packing and they’ll have to start over from the beginning at their new school.

I feel like CPM did it the “right” way.

Should we make a big deal out of Labas getting the “Friday” night start in the P&G World Series with Jaden Hill in the “Saturday”game?

Because I kinda want to make a big deal out of it.

I found the freshman starters interesting as well. Garret Edwards, Ty Floyd and Will Helmers.
