Upfront? Nepotism Paul was being himself. Bianco in center over Hampton. Mmmmmmk.
Less we forget Hal Hughes with the baseball dad who is friends with Old Paul. No lefties, but Moffitt on the 35 man roster.
Imagine being the athlete Hampton is and seeing Bianco getting reps ahead of you. Can’t blame the kid one bit.

Sounds like hampton showed up to practice with a bar stamp on his hand from the night before

How many better pro prospects are in the team ? Kid turned down 7 figures to come here. Let him have some at bats and see what he can do. Easier to not play a kid if he can’t hit Oral Robert’s in a double digit loss or Nichols in a double digit win, as opposed to just not playing him.

Better pro prospects? If we are being honest, at least about 7 and maybe as much as 15
Posted on 3/11/21 at 9:58 pm to josh336
We don’t know that because we rarely saw him play.

Crews, morgan, doughty, milazzo, and probably thompson are all better pro prospects at the plate. Thats just hitters
And i forgot drost

He was batting 0.291 as a freshman before he got hurt. 7 for 24.
And Milazzo? Almost had me

His scholarship is in football how was he not going to play football. All this shite is laughable

Personally I hate to see Mo leave. I still think he will be a really good player wherever he goes. He just needs time to develop and wait his turn. His parents sure aren’t helping him by trying to control everything and making demands. Every single person I’ve talked to that knows Mo says he’s a great kid

Kind of a small sample size especially in OOC, don’t you think?

He should never turned down 1.8...he Will never sniff that kind of money
he should have been given a chance ...pm never cared to see his potential, he is happy with all the others who strike out repeatedly

Crews and Doughty are definitely better prospects right now. Morgan and Thompson are probably better pro prospects as of right now.
Milazzo, well if Milazzo is a pro prospect at all it damn sure ain’t because of what he does with a bat. You’ve got to remember Papierski didn’t get taken until the 9th round with similar defensive tools and MUCH better offensive tools on top of being a switch hitter.
Milazzo is a great college catcher but I don’t see him being a huge pro prospect.

Stats show he was 6/26 on the season.

I used the game by game stats. I double counted one of the EK games.
Working backwards from LaTech
Tech: 2-2
EK: 1-4
EK: 1-4
Nichols: 1-4
Southern 1-5
Indians 0-1
6 for 20. 0.300 average before he got hurt.

Hampton struck out in 9 of his 30 career at bats. Is striking out 1/3 of his at bats better than the rest of the team?

He was 0-6 with 4 Ks against Texas and Baylor which was apparently when he got hurt. They count, but there’s added context there with the injury.
If you remove those, he’s 8-24 with two doubles and 5 Ks. That’s pretty good. I’m not exactly sure when he got hurt during Texas. But he definitely played the Baylor game hurt. He was removed from the game and that was it.

Unless he’s actually sticking with football and wants to join spring practice with another team to try and get on the field in the Fall. That’s my only guess as to the logic of the timing.
I'm just curious where Orgeron comes into play in all of this. Obviously this decision affects more than just baseball, but all we're hearing about is his meeting with Mainieri. Surely he and his parents discussed this with Orgeron as well right? He is on a football scholarship afterall and presumably would be wherever he lands
