Yep, they sure can. As a matter of fact any university in Louisiana can call themselves Louisiana. But the Ooh-La-La s are DEMANDING that everyone call them Louisiana. Miami doesn’t insist that an announcer say “It’s first down for the U” and they don’t get all butt hurt when a sports writer writes “Ohio State beat Michigan” and leaves the The off. I use LSU but am totally fine with Louisiana State. As a matter of fact I love when the Laffy-Taffys say Louisiana State University A&M! FAIL!!

Marlin made some comments to fire up his team and fanbase that, understandably, bothered Wade. Wade responded in kind and, in the process, generated more local excitement from his fanbase than he had all season. It made an otherwise boring and insignificant NIT game a lot of fun. It's why you see a lot of back and forth before a big fight (though mostly scripted). It creates interest.
If you are an arrogant arse all the time then that gets a bit tiring. But I actually like a little emotion and animosity between programs that consider themselves "rivals". It makes competition fun when guys are playing with a little anger and pride in their fanbase and/or school. Tonight's baseball game is almost just like any other midweek game vs. an instate opponent.

CpM is class. . I want to say the same about Coach Robichaux. I have known him back as my coach during My LC American Legion Days. But his outbursts in years past during this series makes me think sometimes that LSU lives rent free in his head

I know some people who grew up with his kids and they don't think he's such a great guy. At the same time that could be said for most of us.
