Patrick Peterson: Using "Same Game Plan" Against Bama Was "Crazy"

PP did an interview on radio row yesterday in Indy (with Sports Radio 610 in Houston, in this case). Another current or recent player takes issue w/ how the game was coached, it seems.
Anyway, one of the hosts (Josh Innis) is an LSU guy, so he naturally asked about the NCG. The Q&A, which took place in the first minute of the interview, is shown below (LINK to audio: LINK).
Q:"How disgusted were you watching that game, especially the way it was handled offensively?"
A: "To think that we'd beat those guys with the same game plan...was the most disgusting part about watching that game."
I didn't type the entire quote, but he emphasizes "the same game plan" three separate times. Dude clearly feels the same way that many of us did: It was crazy to think you could beat a team with a defense that good by doing the same thing you did in the first game.
Tried to shy away from using the word "disgusted" at first, but went to it by the end of his answer.
Ugh.

The main problem with what happened on 9 Jan(among many) is this.
While one can certainly make arguments that Miles is competitive as a coach with Saban. Ya know, whole overall record arguments etc etc, the simple problem is that is NOT how it will be viewed by the average joe(which includes recruits and their parents).
How it will be viewed by them is that Miles embarrassed himself and Saban toyed with him. On THAT SPECIFIC night, the apparent gulf between Saban and Miles was GIGANTIC!
I don't know if that translated into recruiting problems after 9 Jan and I don't know if it will continue to create problems. But I do know for 100% certain that it will be used as exhibit A for pretty much every coach recruiting against Miles.
On that night, he looked like the buffoon he had previously been portrayed as and as such, he sucked the luster off his season. It looks like so much luck to many people now. You don't have to agree that it was luck but it really doesn't matter if you agree. All that matters is that a number of people do agree and a nice percentage of THEM are recruits and their parents.

OK, to phrase it another way we used what worked from the first game and used in in the second game but it didn't work the second time. We also threw in the wrinkle of different formations but we still ran the same plays that worked in game #1.

Easy for him to say. The reality is that there was probably no gameplan that would have worked against Alabama's defense with any level of success. In 2 games spanning 9 quarters LSU's offense average 4.5 pts a game and failed to score a single touchdown. They weren't going to light up Alabama's defense in title game no matter what they did.

Les Miles truly thought he would win 9-6 again. He was playing super conservative and he thought his quarterback not passing the ball would not be an issue. Les Miles was waiting for the defense to create a turnover or for the special teams to run a punt back. He was perfectly content with playing field position, even when down by double digit points.

It was the same game plan that miles used in the games that Jefferson had started I don't understand what is so hard for some of you idiots to accept, miles favored Jefferson and got away from the formula that had made the offense pretty good and unpredictable in the beginning of the year , it never changed because it couldn't Jefferson only had a few plays he could run effectively , Bama was just as strong as us and that's why we couldn't overtake them, their offensive game plan changed for the game , they were a pass first then run which is what miles wasn't expecting and I don't know why he wouldn't , quite simple we were out coached on that day ......get over it

Don't take this personally, but, your comments here are the most hilarious and pathetic kind of Miles apologist rationalization imaginable.
Miles is good to go because nothing he could have done on Jan 9th would have worked. So, anybody who says that Miles sucked and looked like a comatose circus clown on Jan 9th is just a hater who is spouting off at the mouth, knows nothing about football and is a closet Bama fan.
Have I got that right about what you are saying?
