Oh man, like you REALLY have no idea how college baseball works, do you?

Moderate. Not LSU

Being good enough as a recruit and being at the top end of expectations once you arrived — those are two different things.
But for LSU, it’s embarrassing when you have pick of the litter and struggle like Mainieri has to find kids that can rake

But you said literally no other major program recruited him. You know what literally means?

We weakened third and shortstop in order to trade Dugas’ bat for Hughes’. Worth it? I doubt it.
A program like LSU shouldn’t be in that predicament. But it is what it is, the rantard baseball superfans are going to tell everyone who has any criticism of the program how wrong they are, meanwhile we’re not ranked in the top 10, we’re not particularly talented in the field, we’re 11 years removed from our last natty, and we dropped a game to Indiana in our opening series.
But no one can point those things out because “it’s early”, just like last year and the 9 years before that.

You dont think major programs run into these issues with recruiting the way it is setup? Got it, you dont follow the sport.
You were totally right, the 2009 national championship team didnt lose games early in the season, so “its early” doesnt fly

The whole starting 9 should have full scholarships, right?

He wasn’t. Until schools had to fill late holes and scour the country for technicality additions. LSU didn’t want Mathis. Nobody did. LSU wanted Cairo. Mathis was a desperation addition late because Cal St-North ridge fired its coach and we could work around a technicality to go after him.
If we wanted him we would’ve gone after him from the get go — not after Cairo signed and left is hanging late with no backup plan

So again... you have no idea how college baseball operates, do you?

No matter what you want to conclude, it’s pathetic

Yeah, it was a bad showing tonight. But it's not that big of a deal.

Yes, again, if we wanted him originally we wouldve have gone after him. We didn’t. We thought Hal Hughes, Doughty and Cairo would suffice for the infield, even though we all knew Hughes was terrible.
Cairo went pro (always the risk) and we were lucky Doughty didn’t. Left us scrambling for a second-tier infielder to fill the hole and we signed a kid we normally wouldn’t have in Mathis.
The fact he’s our best hitter is an indictment in the “studs” we’ve recruited the past few years.

The only way to watch an LSU weekday baseball game is with a double scotch and a loaded revolver.

But...
he's not out best hitter.
He's a good hitter, but not the best and it's weird that this is the hill you want to die on.

He will have the highest average at seasons end imo. You have no clue otherwise.

So what does this say about the schools like vandy, florida, michigan, louisville, etc that they didnt go after him?
