LSU has built a bad reputation recently of setting aside all morals to obtain victories in athletics. Hiring a guy who is a clear example of throwing aside decency to win ballgames does nothing to repair LSU’s image. It makes it even worse.

White Sox hired Tony Larussa after a 10 year retirement at the age of 76 and they are one of the best teams in the L.

I know its kinda apples to oranges, but its baseball and Casey is 62, and only retired for like 3 years in a sport where these old farts coach til like 80. At worst hes a stopgap until we can find our next long term guy.

I do agree about the Heimlich stuff looking bad considering all the other smoke at LSU though.

Yep, anyone melting about the guys age is a clown. Nobody here knows him. His three year break could have revitalized him to where he coaches another 10-15 years. Or maybe he doesn’t. Nobody knows for sure, and they shouldn’t speak like they do. But I’m sure Woodward is doing his due diligence, which is good enough for me.

McDonnell, early 50’s, hasn’t openly talked about being confused as to whether or not he has the energy to coach for the last 10 years.

There is more in play if you want to discuss Mcdonnell vs. Casey than just record and resume but, I think either way you are winning the coaching search with either name.

Or a coach not punishing a young guy again, accepted his road to redemption.

Maybe being locked in the house with the wife for the last 3 years has cleared that up for him.

No doubt that would be a primary focus of the interview

He’s had other offers and kept a job within the Oregon State athletic department instead.

Damn boys I stand corrected. I had no idea he had that many comments about those things surrounding his retirement. I just figured he still had it after going out on top, but a lot of those comments are even more concerning to hear now.

Pat Casey didn’t even make the playoffs his 1st 10 seasons at Oreg St....then out of the blue..next 3 years were CWS, CWS champs, CWS champs.....then next 5 years with just 1 SR.

And this is relevant how? Oregon State is the worst P5 school in the country in a state with absolutely 0 baseball history whatsoever.

Was TCU much better when Schloss took over? I mean...there’s a lot of baseball talent on the west coast...and not to make playoffs for 1st 10 years for a guy who’s touted as being a great developer of talent.

I'm not getting the point you are trying to make. Are you trying to say the guy caught lightning in a bottle 3 times?
