Same people crying about Casey want Cannizaro hired.
LSU fans are some of the worst in the country my man...and I'm one.

The guy texted his side piece during a game against an instate rival.
Holy shite put him on the registry and fire him from his coaching job and make sure he live underneath the Claiborne Expressway for the rest of his life!!!!

Lsu fans on this board are clueless. Casey would he an awesome hire.
LSU fans in general are clueless.....I mean there is a big segment of the fanbase that still thought we wronged Les by firing him before this whole Title 9 thing came out...nobody will admit to still being on his side now.

I have done some more research and will say this article is concerning. There were rumors he was also considering retiring in 2011. He is obviously a guy that puts a lot of internal pressure on himself.
Would definitely have to be pressed about this in the interview.
“Casey, who just completed his 17th year as OSU's leader on the diamond, has conducted a self-evaluation after every season and has considered the possibility of retiring from baseball each offseason since 2008.
He led the Beavers to three straight College World Series appearances from 2005-07 and back-to-back championships in '06 and '07. In '08 the Beavers failed to make an NCAA regional.”

Cannizaro has been mentioned 2000x on this board since he got hired in New Orleans. Fans were actually cool with it too

Yes. Same ones that don't want Saban back...didn't want Mulkey, etc.
This is sports, not life. I just want a winner plain and simple. I would hire a priest if I wanted a clean program. Do you think Duke cares if Coach K cheated, Bama cares if Saban cheated, Vandy cares if Corbin cheated. Hell no. They just want to win. By cheat I mean bend the rules.

My biggest issue with him isnt that case, its his age and lack of coaching in the south. Everything else is great about him
I can listen to this argument
I just think hear people only partially know the story of the pitcher and form an opinion without understanding everything.

This kind of reminds me of Tennessee fans putting the kibosh on Greg Schiano before the hire was announced officially.

I don’t give a shite about that pitcher or how he handled it. He’s old. He’s burned out once at one of the easiest places to coach. He has zero ties to the region where we already have recruiting issues. Arky, State, Tennessee… all doing a better job with talent evaluation… and now you add Schloss to the mix.
This is a take that I don't fault and even mostly agree with...although I'd still take Casey over Bianco if it comes down to that.
But look at all the "frick him he supported a pedo!" posts....pretty telling.

Casey won 3 championships with 11.7. He is a better coach than Corbin. I dont give a frick.

To be fair we got swept and he did get fired rather swiftly. Since then? 2 trips to omaha and haven’t missed a Super. Cannizaro is not a good coach.

Not talking about coaching resume, talking about the pedo stuff.

As someone who has been to Corvallis and seen Oregon state up close I’ll be the first to tell you Pat Casey would dominate with LSU’s resources.
It just sucks he’s in his 60s. A bit surprised he’s a leading candidate at 62 but to say Casey isn’t a fricking great coach is ridiculous. This board hates Casey, O’Sullivan etc
Agree
The only question is does he want to coach another 10-15 years
Posted on 6/9/21 at 5:16 pm to Hailstate15
He was a pretty good hitting coach/motivator from what I can remember about the time he spent at LSU....we could use a little of that again.
I wouldn't hate for the next head man to hire him for the staff.

Yep. Casey would win a championship with these young players.

Excellent motivator and recruiter. Can’t give him the responsibility of an entire team though

3 years ago due to....health and burn out.
While Casey may have retired for some health reasons that would be a possible issue, he DID NOT retire due to burning out... lol. He literally went out retiring winning a national championship, and lost to us the year before in the Semi-Finals, with a team that was the best in the country that year. This would be a potential PR nightmare and frick Pat Casey for his pedo cover up, I would still prefer Vitello or Godwin over Casey, but would rather Casey than O’Sullivan or Bianco.

Call me an idiot....but for me. If you can get one of McDonnell, Vitello, or Godwin you go that route before Casey....I think it just sets you up better for the future and they are probably a better fit south of I-10. However, if it goes down to Bianco and Casey....it has to be Casey right?? I mean its a no brainer there.
