Passing when you have Herschel/Bo

I'd like offensive balance as much as the next fan, however...
1980 UGA
12-0 SEC champs, Sugar Bowl, National Champs
Buck Belue
77/156 (49%)
1314 yds (110/gm)
TD/INT: 11/9
1983 Auburn
11-1 SEC Champs, Sugar Bowl
Randy Campbell
78/142 (55%)
873 yds (79/gm)
TD/INT: 7/3
Buck is a radio/TV personality here in Atlanta now. I once heard a joke on the radio:
Q: "Why did Buck cross the road?"
A: "To hand off to Herschel."

Feel like the game has evolved a little bit in 35 years.

Trust me, the rant knows Les Miles remembers 80s football very well

i was going to look up similar stats myself..
teams that had a Heisman trophy running back and won a national title.. and see how much throwing they did.. haha

Who cares if anything has changed if it works?

Now give us some examples when they didn't use leather helmets.

LSU doesn't need balance, they need to be good at passing when they do it.

+1......Fournette should be a huge reason that our passing game opens up.
But you have to count how many Pass Interference calls on EMU. We had some great passing plays that could have been caught had it not been for DPI.
Still needs work, but things should improve. Also, Miles' LSU teams will always play down to our competition....Always.

Herschel Walker, Bo Jackson, and Leonard Fournette are the sharks of the college football world. Nature evolves around them, and they are still the deadliest predators on the planet.

Belue was 2nd in total passing yards in the SEC in 1980, so some truth there. Campbell was 2nd to last in 1983 though.

This is the correct answer. Not saying we don't need to be able to pass some but could most people even tell you who the qb's or wr's were who played with Bo and Hershel? (Without the info posted here of course) No. And it won't matter years from now who gave LF the ball. All anyone will remember is him. We're watching history. Enjoy it.

What would have happened if either of them had a season ending injury? What was the backup?

2004 Oklahoma Sooners
12-1, Big 12 Champs, BCSCG
Adrain Peterson, 339 rushes, 1,925 yards rushing, 15 TDs
Jason White
255-390, (65.4%)
3,204 yards
35 TD
9 INT
Oklahoma actually had the 2nd and 3rd place finishers in the Heisman that year.
So you can actually be balanced and sill have a GOAT at RB

Comparing football on the 80s to today is just stupid.
