Just received season tickets and looking at gameday parking map, it looks like all the "game by game parking" around parade grounds and Tower is now reserved. We have tailgated by Coates Hall for close to 20 years and it looks like that lot is also marked as reserved now. Is this area no longer going to be available by paying 40 for vehicle and 50 for trailer? Anyone know anything about this?

You are correct sir. This was announced in the spring. You will need a season parking pass to park in those lots near Coates and Pleasant Hall. As of last week, LSU was still selling them for $500/year (non-renewable I think).

You will notice that the circle around Parade Grounds is still blue ($40 - game by game), but Coates is now designated as Lot 205 (reserved) and Pleasant Hall is now designated as Lot 207 (reserved).

I tailgate in front of Memorial Tower. We can still park there with the $40 fee but I'm worried about the spillover from Coates and Pleasant. What are your plans?

Those lots weren't always reserved? That's going to be a nice cluster for the 1st home game.

Here's the official list of new permit lots:

New Reserved (Season Permit) Lots

Various cash parking lots are now reserved season permit lots. These areas are listed below:

Coates Hall (Lot 205)
Pleasant Hall/Music Building Lot (Lot 207)
Geology Lot (Lot 306)
Nicholson Hall (Lot 307)
Union Lot (Lot 308)

So we can still park in the loop around the union with game by game passes?

2014 Parking Map

Yes - blue area around Parade Grounds is still game by game. But notice on map, there is not much blue area.

Agreed - first game is going to be like the Oklahoma land rush and people trying to plant their flag (tent).

Yep. I do like that the game-by-game pricing has been tiered. That may bring more people out to the shittier games.

Sept. 6 Sam Houston St. $20
Sept. 13 UL-Monroe $20
Sept. 20 Mississippi St.$40
Sept. 27 New Mexico St. $20
Oct. 18 Kentucky $20
Oct. 25 Ole Miss $40
Nov. 8 Alabama $40

Don't know. I'm on phone with ticket office now. I have 7 family tailgate that has been setting up there for years. Have 150 to 250 people come through each week. If I can't get passes, will either shut it down or find another spot probably on the parade grounds.

Was able to get one parking pass for Coates lot. Does anyone know how trailers work in the reserved lots? Can you park your trailer in the space and park the truck elsewhere? Do you have to park a vehicle in the spot and park the trailer elsewhere, which is going to mean I have to carry all the stuff from the trailer to the tailgate spot to set up and then back to trailer after game is over. This really sucks

I would say park the trailer in the spot. It would be pointless to park the trailer elsewhere as you would need to go in the truck to pickup the trailer then back to tailgate spot just to load up.

Thanks and I agree but ticket office person told me that I couldn't park trailer in spot. I was wondering what other people in reserve spots did with trailers. Do they park them there or will campus police tow them if left unhooked to a vehicle.

I would bet my last buck that trailers would get towed.

You should just rent a 10' or 12' cargo van from Budget, Enterprise or whoever for the weekend, load it with your tailgating crap and park it in the spot.

Yep, and probably sold the passes to people who don't even tailgate. Going to push lots of tailgaters to parade grounds and not enough parking spots around parade grounds to accommodate.

I saw on the news last week that Nicholson and Burbank will be off limits to park. Seems like tailgating on campus will be a madhouse until enough people get fed up and stop showing up. So sad.

LSU is just lucky we're opening with Sam Houston. They better get it worked out by 10/25 because Ole Miss always travels well to BR and it will be like Lord of the Flies trying to get spots.

We have already seen a reduction in number of tailgaters the past 2-3 yrs.

We have seen a reduction in the number of people attending games and tailgating the past few years. But traffic congestion is at an all time high.

LSU has dropped the ball again.

LSU vs. Florida was a perfect example of LSU killing the fan experience. A great matchup and only 75K or so in attendance. The announcers made numerous comments regarding the empty seats. However, many decade long season ticket holders were stuck in traffic for many hours and turned around and went home. There was absolutely no parking and traffic coordination for that game and what their was it was contradicting so people went around in circles.

It's gotten to the point that season ticket holders cant even give tickets away to the smaller games.

LSU fans want to tailgate and LSU is killing that off slowly.

My experience at this game is what turned me into a major Alleva detractor...that's why I refer to him as "Neville Chamberlin" ...we needed Winston Churchill's "ACTION THIS DAY"...not, "we hired a consultant"...

now, as far as tailgating is concerned...when I was at LSU, tailgating as we know it now didn't exist, but there was more than adequate parking and public transport to/from Tiger Stadium...

My personal thought about the central campus area is that tailgaiters should be able to reserve their area...but pay for it...

Parade Ground, I'd subdivide and rent out and get somebody to keep it policed at all times...

Per game paid parking should be open until an hour before kickoff...

Would love to be able to reserve an area and our group would be willing to pay for it. I just feel like they are trying to make it so difficult to have a large tailgate. A table, couple of chairs, TV and box of chicken is ok, but with tailgates our size that have grown over the years, I don't want to have to pack and unpack tents, generators, TVs, tables, sound systems, ice chests, etc. every week into a rental van. That was whole point of investing in tailgate trailer. Those of us that live out of town, can't be in BTR every Friday evening at 4 or 5 to set up a tailgate and park our vehicles/trailers in the few available spots.
