Pandering to Army

If I were Army, I'd be pretty disrespected by the level of pandering LSU is doing to "show respect." Not booing out the tunnel, singing their alma mater. They are a legit college football team and deserve to be treated like one.

Can we start anchoring topics with the word "Army" in them?

It’s not the way
You can’t hurt anyone’s feelings unless the media says it’s ok to do so

Let the band play Neck. Let's give em the full experience.

I wonder how many of our fans realize that we have a Military Appreciation game every year the home game prior to Veterans Day. We happen to be playing Army this year, the first time we've ever had a home game against a service academy. So they're doing a little more for it than they usually do. And by more I mean painting an endzone and having an american flag on our jersey, really serious stuff

What's funny is how much this has bothered an unhealthy number of LSU fans.

LSU Salutes, annually co-sponsored by the LSU and Cadets of the Ole War Skule, was established in March 1998 by a resolution of the LSU Board of Supervisors and endorsed by the Office of the Presidentas an official University observance.
LSU Salutes is an opportunity for the Ole War Skule to recognize and honor those who served with distinction in the Armed Forces of the United States of America, along with special guests, including all veterans and former and current cadets. It occurs each November on the Saturday of a home football game that falls nearest to Veterans Day. The event also recognizes and honors POWs, MIAs, and Medal of Honor recipients.
LSU Salutes is the catalyst for renewal of institutional and alumni commitment to the Ole War Skule. Through this effort, citizens are reminded of the significant sacrifices made by so many former and current cadets/midshipmen, alumni, and others who make possible our freedom today. Participants are also given the opportunity to express their appreciation and support for those who continue to serve and those preparing to serve in the Armed Forces of the United States of America.
What's funny is how much this has bothered an unhealthy number of LSU fans.

It’s embarrassing
Sounds like a you problem if something like painting an endzone and an American flag on a jersey actually embarrasses you

It's incredible how many whiny posts there have been this week, especially considering LSU's military tradition.
Besides, it's Homecoming weekend, and we're not doing anything outrageous beyond what other schools do when one of the service academies come to town. Why is it so hard for some to just relax and enjoy the festivities?

I agree. But, let's make sure YOU get the full experience. Sign up for five years in the Gaza strip.

You are an idiot if you think you can't cheer for Army running out the tunnel and then root against them when the game starts. The stupidity on this site never ceases to amaze me.
