Padres trade former Tiger Ryan Schimpf

The San Diego Padres traded the former tiger second baseman, to the Tampa Bay Rays for minor-league infielder Deion Tansel, according to a club announcement Tuesday.

Schimpf was sent down to Triple-A the last four months of the 2017 season. He has hit 34 home-runs in 441 at-bats in the majors and has slashed .195/.317/.492 in the majors.

Deion Tansel is a 5-foot-8 23 y/o utility infielder, drafted in the 32nd round of the 2016 draft. who slashed .280/.345/.392 in short season A-ball over the past 2 season.

Sneakily the most productive player on that 2009 squad, yet the last to usually come to mind. One GIDP that year.

Most efficient player that year, Beau Didier (Min. 1 AB).

marlins are in slash mode so I think he has a good chance to be on the big roster at least for next year.
