Quarterback Danny Etling cleared waivers on Wednesday, so the Green Bay Packers are bringing him back on the 16-player practice squad, according to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic.

The Packers released Etling as a part of final cuts on Tuesday. Etling, who completed 22 passes and rushed for a 51-yard touchdown during the preseason, will return as the No. 3 quarterback behind Aaron Rodgers and Jordan Love.

Rodgers has compared Etling (6-3, 228) to former Packers backup Scott Tolzien and praised his athleticism, work ethic and attention to detail.
quote:

Etling, 28, was originally a seventh-round draft pick of the New England Patriots in 2018. His NFL journey has been a bit of a rollercoaster; the Packers are his seventh team.

Practice squad is damn good money.

According to this article, LINK, Etling is making anywhere from $15.4K to $19.9K per week for the 18 weeks of the season, so that's roughly $275K to $360K per year.

I found a website that said going into this season he's made around 683k then you add that to this year. It's good to see him along with other borderline players do well.

I wish the NFL had a minor league of sorts in the spring/early summer for borderline players. Have the games in the normal stadiums. It'd get better ratings than USFL and XFL.

He should be eligible for NFL retirement when he’s done… right?

You need 3 seasons to qualify for the minimum pension, a season is defined as being on the active roster for at least 3 games.

Etling is making good money compared to most any job but won't make anywhere close to Matt Flynn's career earnings of $20 million.

Jontre is on the Cardinals PS as of today. More impressively, Austin Deculus made the Texans 53 main roster (for now). Love seeing Tigers stick and get the experience.
