Don't take it personally. I played college sports at a La. regional university. We knew we were LSU's step child when we played them but we always pulled for them to win when they got to conference play. I ended up transferring to LSU & I have my degree from there & am a season tix holder. La-Lafayette has always been a regional school, it still is & will always be. There is nothing wrong w/ that. I live out of state & no one knows the difference b/t NLU/ULM, La Tech, USL/ULL, SLU, McNeese, Nicholls etc. Those schools are all nothing but paychecks for the Auburn's & UGA's. La-Lafayette has a huge inferiority complex & I know a few people that went there & they absolutely hate LSU. They don't usually admit it publically but you can read b/t the lines. They would pull for bama before us anyday.

OK. That's fine. A program like Boise St. decided they wanted to become better than they were and made improvements in order to do so. There's nothing wrong with that and maybe UL can do the same. But I don't think Bob Marlin should call out LSU for not playing UL when his program hasn't done much of anything in his seven seasons. You can't tell me that Marlin's done anything special since he's been the head coach. That's the part I don't care for.

No you're not. Only people from ULL call themselves that. Everyone else does not.

The state of Louisiana has the law in the books. And you're not Louisiana and never will be!

Every time I see them on the schedule, they worry me...not scared but more of a 'this isn't going to be a cakewalk' kind of worry.

Think this is a very fair statement. ULL is consistently stronger in multiple sports and it's sometimes a lose/lose for us.

Most people don't even know what UL means. Living out of state & knowing sports I can eventually figure out it means Louisville. No one associates UL w/ La Lafayette outside of Acadiana. If I was in charge I would have them change their name to something like Univ of Lafayette to not confuse them w/ Lafayette University or maybe something unique like Acadiana University.

These things take time. Athletically, we are Louisiana. I believe we have the right team in place to push this forward. The NCAA, Sunbelt Conference, ULM, and even ESPN is now on board. It also took people a while to start calling Nevada-Reno just Nevada after the change in branding. The battle is won.

Who is that on October 19 then?

Hasn't the university taken the stance that this is merely the athletic teams' nickname, and no indication of them trying to change the school name?

I believe there was an article about it last year. The school website even says as much, and says the official school name is the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and that "Louisiana" is only a short name for it's athletic teams.

this thread about the tigers and the cajuns hate for each other seems to be recycled about once a month.

who cares what they think. i swear that this entire board worries about bama and ULL more than anybody else.

Exactly! The school name is Louisiana Lafayette. Athletically, we are Louisiana. Now you got it.

LSU A&M goes by just LSU athletically. Same thing.

Says the guy who used an ESPN link to support his story, AND changed from "I think they have more of a right to be called Louisiana than any other school in the system" to "The school name is Louisiana Lafayette".

Just stfu already. You've been getting your arse kicked all over this thread, and for WHAT? A name that the school will mever have?

Kick rocks.

No, athletically, you are a pile of crap who had to cheat to be good at basketball, has never done anything in football, and who's only real athletic accomplishment is a good baseball team who STILL feels like they get mistreated because of LSU, when in reality it's the shite conference they play in.

NOW you can go kick rocks.

Lmao! So original. The typical ULL "I've lost, so let me call them Brokeback" Comeback.

You became a perpetual loser 18 years ago, and no fancy spin on a nickname is going to change that.

Now clearly, he is referring to LSU when he talks about P5 schools in Louisiana. Why would anyone be scared to schedule ULL? I get that LSU basketball wasn't very good last year, but come on now.

I can promise you Will Wade wont be scared to schedule anyone.

Why are you so obsessed with the Cajuns? Why did you feel the need to start this thread on an LSU message board. Marlin didn't even mention LSU in the interview. Was it so you could go cry to your daddy?
