Most Lake Charles people are huge LSU fans. Its the small town mentality douches that root for mcneese and Lafayette.

Yeah, I mean I grew up watching LSU, but now that I have 2 degrees from McNeese, any financial support goes to them. I still watch both and pull for both, except when the 2 play each other. In those rare cases, I pull for McNeese obviously.

Lake Charles isn't as bad as Lafayette when it comes to the "frick LSU" fans. Although, it does get pretty annoying when there are barely any fans in Cowboy Stadium on Saturday night. The LSU fans in Lake Charles are really nothing but band wagon fans either way. If LSU is good, they stay home to watch LSU. If LSU sucks and McNeese is good, they are at the game. If neither is doing well, they don't care.

Lafayette has way more of the "frick LSU" crowd. They think they are on the same level as LSU. Lmao!

Why does everyone in Louisiana have to be an LSU fan?

Nothing to gain? It's not like UL will boost RPI.

You're right. ULL would not boost RPI.

I do kind of feel for schools like ULL. With many sports putting such an emphasis on OOC scheduling and RPI, P5 schools are going to give fewer opportunities to smaller conferences than they already do. The Big Ten has already mandated that their members schedule at least one P5 opponent outside of the league for football.

I do feel for schools like ULL, but I don't feel bad for ULL. Once I realized the penis envy they have toward LSU, they lost all sympathy from me.

It's not that your fans have to be LSU fans. It's that your fans are anti-LSU fans. Your school acts like it's an LSU rival.

Let me clue you people in on something: ULL has not been, is not and never will be a rival of LSU. And running around calling yourself UL or University of Louisiana doesn't help matters, either. Monroe has just has much right to call itself University of Louisiana because there is no flagship school of the University of Louisiana system.

So any ULL antipathy you folks encounter from LSU people probably isn't because you're not an LSU fans, it's because you folks seem to hate LSU with a passion.

There is some benefit to playing them in baseball and softball because they are good and it helps with RPI. No other sport is necessary

No what it is about is ULL people still have a chip on their shoulder because they think they should be same status as LSU. If you talk to any of them, they say there is a big rivalry between LSU and ULL. That rivalry only exists in ULL graduates and students heads. No LSU grad gives a flip about ULL. They are not in the same league.

Really there's not even that. Most of us ULL grads that are not wearing red and black sunglasses realize there's no comparison between the two. The only time this ever seems to come up is when LSU fans want to validate how much better LSU is than ULL.

Why is a mcneese fan starting a thread about the Cajuns?

Cajuns tried scheduling an exhibition game last year (MEANS IT WOULDN'T COUNT) in Baton Rouge, and ALL the money would of went to helping the flood victims in Baton Rouge. But LSU turned it down. Why? Too much pride?

Unless you're some kind of traitor, LSU is the school that represents Louisiana. WE have our regional schools that have local support, but most will support LSU unless they have a case of penis envy.

Because I listen to Lafayette sports radio, you know, being that I live in the Lafayette area and all, and thought it was humorous that the ULL basketball coach thinks LSU and other Power 5 schools are scared to play them.

Being that I am also an LSU fan, I thought it was a relevant topic.

Sorry you get chapped anytime a "McNeese fan" starts a thread about ULL. I thought you guys liked the attention?

LSU is a political bully in this state. Has been since the days of Huey Long.
God forbid another state University attempts to better it's stature.

I fully support all schools trying to elevate their stature.
However, the best way to do that is through accomplishment, not by changing your name and pretending to be THE University of Louisiana. If you do, the snickering you hear from others will be well deserved...

Exactly.

Not to mention the fact that when the UL System was created (1970s), every school in it existed and was not a branch or remote campus of any of the others, like LSU is.

I don't care if ULL wants to be the best or second best university in the state. But quit trying to make yourself the flagship of a university system that has no flagship, and never will.

When UL had the best basketball program in the deep South in the 60s and early 70s LSU's political machine found a way to get the program sentenced to death. (read: Slam Dunked)

When UL had the nation's best computer science program in the 80's, it was raided by LSU.

When USL legally changed its name in '84, LSU's political machine again threw it's power around to get the decision reversed.

This is only what I know of off the top of my head. UL has every right to hate LSU.

UL has the highest enrollment, by far, and its endowment is greater than all the other ULS schools COMBINED.
I think they have more of a right to be called Louisiana than any other school in the system.
