re: Outside of Herman, who are other real and potential HC Candidates?

I think LSU won't hire a guy from an FCS school, but I like the guy from North Dakota State. I know it won't happen though. Not at LSU. They won't hire an OC or DC unless he has had HC experience. Just off the top of my head, I like Larry Fedora. Outside of that, not really sure.

I don't see him leaving.
Plus I believe he is older than Les..

Don't give a shite about his personal life. Miles is a great family man yet is on the way to being fired. Kiffin is certainly not my first choice but I'd rather roll the dice with him over more wasted years with les miles.

So a coach who may very well get fired at Miss State is a candidate for the HC job at LSU ?
Most HCs have their best success when the were coordinators under strong HCs.

State is not firing Mullen. He is the best thing to happen to them.

This conversation is exactly why Miles won't get fired absent a total collapse. Outside of Herman and Jimbo there isn't a slam dunk hire.
If we have to choose been unproven coordinators or head coaches outside of the power 5 watch out.

What has Kiffin done that makes you think he has matured or otherwise changed?

Dabo would bw perfect
Kiffin has been thoroughly impressive at bama, but I don't think he's the answer as a HC anywhere.

Worked for saban for three years without getting fired or demoted.
Again not an ideal hire bit ill take it over the current situation.

Yeah Muschamp is a really stable chap.

Stable enough to get a second sec coaching job.

You mean after he was fired form his first? For not being a good coach?

You are taking stability earlier not coaching ability.

I agree with what Marcus Spears said last year when I thought Miles was finally out the door and everyone kept saying "Who are you gonna hire if you get rid of him?".. Spears made the point that if you're in a bad marriage, you don't stay in it until you find someone else to marry (well, most people don't).. You get the **** out, then you move on... Same philosophy applies to finding a HC in my opinion.

You held working for Saban for 3 years as the gold standard for being a mature or otherwise professional individual.
I pointed out that Will Msuchamp is a lunatic and he worked for Saban for a number of years without being fired.
You pointed out that he got a second SEC job
I pointed out that he got canned form his first one because he is a shite coach, AND a lunatic. So working for Saban probably conceals a person's shitty side rather than changes it.

He was fired because he didn't win enough games. dude can be a hothead but he was fired for much the same reason miles is going to be...shitty offense and not being able to find a QB. Maturity issues were the least of his problems at the end.

what was the general opinion of Saban when he came here? I was only 13 at the time, so I don't remember. I know the Miles hire wasn't too popular with the fan base. I feel like I've read that people were pretty iffy on the Saban hire.
Knowing how the past two hires went, I would say we have the ability to attract a big name, but I wouldn't really expect it. Especially with the administration in place. This isn't Emmert or Bertman in charge of the hire.

I honestly don't want Kiffin anywhere near this program. Or Dabo, or anyone who may have mushy feelings toward Saban. I want someone who has a burning desire to kick his little tail.
