Weathersby is rated the 15th best OT in some recent draft boards I have seen. I wouldn't call that being in the "top"

Make up draft boards right now are completely irrelevant. He's been consistently one of the highest graded OT's in the conference this season. That's what will matter. I'm not saying he will be a 1st round pick or anything. But as long as he stands a good chance of being drafted, he's gone. He's played at a near-elite level when he has played this season.

Afterall, when you're looking at things like this:

And they say this about Weathersby:
quote:

10/14/17: Weathersby has played well for LSU. He has helped the Tigers break in some new linemen this year. Weathersby is a better run blocker than pass protector. Moving to right tackle or inside to guard could be the best plan for him in the NFL Read more:

Weathersby has been an elite level pass blocker, that comment made no sense. Also "moving to RT" - he's played RT his entire career here. IT's just a made up draft board that has no relevancy to how anything will look come draft time. It's some random guy trying to give his opinion which clearly he probably hasn't watched or graded Weathersby all season.

This was Weathersby's PFF grade before the Alabama game:
RT – Toby Weathersby (PFF Overall Grade: 83.7)
2017 Stats: 6 games/6 starts
PFF Numbers to Know: 84.0 pass blocking grade is No. 3 in the SEC for tackles. Overall grade of 83.7 is fifth in the league at his position.

84 pass blocking grade is excellent, 3rd best in the conference for OTs.

Before second half of Auburn game, the o-line was pushed around every game except BYU. See Troy

I hate to say it, but the Malone injury was addition by subtraction. He wasn't the only one though. Weathersby and Clapp both had nagging injuries and our freshmen were still learning.

I’ll give credit to Grimes when he starts hauling in the OL depth as he was hired to do.
Like this?

Kardell Thomas = #1 OG (LSU Commit)
Kenyon Green = #2 OT (LSU Commit)
Thomas Perry= #38 OT (LSU Commit)

It's great we have those 2 elite guys committed, but signing day is also well over a year away for them and 1 of them is considered a soft commit. Grimes needs to pull both of them in, and badly.

No true freshman should ever start at a major program much less 2! Give credit where it is due

Again, stupid. So don't play your best players. Got it.

I do admit that our O-line has made great progress with some young players this year. The penalties have been cut down tremendously, they are performing their assignments better and not getting blown back off the LOS like they did earlier in the season. I hope that they will grade out as the top line in the country, but lets see if the upper classmen hang around one more year first.

Not my point dummy. What I meant was a major college program should never be in a position where they have to start 2 true freshman due to lack of depth. Tell me how many start as true freshman at LSU in recent memory? Reason we have 2 now is a lack of depth due to class attrition. Understand now?
