I ran some numbers this morning, Bama has signed 17 4/5* offensive linemen in their last 5 classes, Georgia has signed 16, and LSU has signed...wait for it...7

I'm wondering what the hell they do next year if Bradford and Thomas continue being fatasses and Ingram goes pro. Gonna be ugly.
They are getting playing time. They are getting worked in.

I'm pretty high on the coaching ability of Cregg as it pertains to developing OL indvidually.

Traore came in with some of the worst technique I've ever seen and an inability to use his mass and wingspan with leverage. He managed to do a sufficient "old dogs new tricks" coaching job enough where he was an adequate/solid #2.

The rest of them have shown steady improvement (again, on individual basis). I'll cite Deculus. Seemed every game he got better. That type of progression with OL is difficult.

It gets even more apparent when you look at how many top 50 or 75 4 stars that BAMA/UGA sign and look at LSU's 4 stars. Hint most are in the high 100s or 200s

What about Dumerville and Martinez? Are they just not ready yet? If I remember correctly Dumerville was highly rated and possibly 5 star and Martinez a lot of folks were saying was a steal and underrated. How do we know Leigh would be good enough to step in as a freshman and start as the line in the SEC has to be the toughest positions to step in and play well early on

Offensive line is the toughest position group to adapt to from high school to college. There is a reason most of them redshirt as freshmen. Need at least a year to acclimate and get body right to play o line In the SEC.

What happened to the Kardell kid, I forget his name. I thought that kid would start from the very first day, he looked to be a monster. I don't understand the waiting or whatever they're doing with him.

O has been here a while to get the trenches fixed. He was recruiting director with miles even prior to taking over in 16. the OL is a cluster and it’s on O. It will take 3 years to get it anywhere close to where it needs to be with competent recruiting.

Orgeron was hired in 2015 as DL coach and became the "recruiting coordinator" in January of 2016 (less than one month before signing day 2016) when Frank Wilson took the UTSA HC job, then was made interim HC later in 2016 when Les was fired.

2016 signed 4 only Lloyd Cushenberry amounted to anything. Hard to give O credit/grief for this class due to his recruiting responsibilities for 2016 class being DL for all but one month of that recruiting cycle.

2017 signed 4 with Deculus, Charles and Ingram becoming starters. Stewart left almost immediately.

2018 signed 4 (Traore, Wire and Lewis) plus Hines and Rosenthal, all started games for LSU. Cole Smith transferred out and is now the starting center at Moo State. This includes 2 JUCO to fill holes in 2014, 2015 and 2016 OL classes due to washouts.

2019 Signed 4 all are still works in progress.

2020 Signed 3 all are still works in progress plus Shanahan.

22 total OL recruits (including Rosenthal and Hines who anyone with half a brain knew were destined for the OL) with 5 washouts (3 from 2016) and Rosenthal (idiot, possibly being number 6), 7 developing and 3 in the NFL and one JUCO out of eligibility from the 2016 through 2020 recruiting classes.

The cream of the 2016, 2017 and 2018 classes are in the NFL, leaving Deculus, Wire, Hines and Ingram as starters this year from those classes with the person who should be our starting center transferring and playing same for Moo State.

In an ideal world, OL would get 2 years of development before ever seeing the field for meaningful snaps, therefore:

The 2019 class needs to step up big time to fill open spots for next year.

Has Kardell Thomas been playing at all? I haven’t noticed him in.

Both Thomas and Bradford played late in the South Carolina game when the second string was on the field in the 4th quarter.

Wire has 100 lbs on me but pretty sure my pass blocking technique matches up pretty well.
