I was a student when CJ and Shaq were at LSU. The student section was so much better because we had sideline seats in the lower and middle sections. Those were awesome times. Too bad the students were moved behind the goal. It lessons their ability to impact the PMAC atmosphere.

It's because LSU football and LSU baseball typically have more local caucasian fans, whereas basketball was taken over by the hiphop rap bling bling culture in the late 90's and hasn't changed much. Add to that the rule changes that have happened that make these games give you a headache from all the whistles. It's like they don't want you to play defense, you cant body up and stand your ground anymore. You have players like dewayne wade and chris paul etc that make a living by running and leaping into defenders because they know theyll get an easy whistle. That mentality is ruining the game for the fans that remember when players could play defense. So much of the game that used to exist has disappeared. The low post game for example. The mid range jump shot. The hook. The bank. Consistent shooting.

They allow traveling now. If you learn how to skiphop your feet while dribbling you can get away with palming the ball mid-dribble. Players used to not be able to get away with that. You had to actually be skilled protecting the ball while dribbling.

People dont tailgate for basketball, and moms/dads typically around here spend all their money on baseball/football camps for their kids than basketball.

just my humble opinion as an old school tiger basketball fan. i'm 36. I was around in the deaf dome's heyday.
