The student section would have had 10 people in it if not for the 50 dancers from some Dance Academy in it.

You sre very wrong about this. Have you not payer attention the ladt few years? The pmac has bern dead for these games and had barely anybody in the upper decks. There are plenty up there this year and the crowd has been getting into the games.

When the student section is so empty that they put the 100 little girls from the tiger girl camp to sit in the lower part of the student section its a big problem.

And to the guy talking down the $5 ticket idea. They have done it before recently and actually sold a lot of the tickets.

Student attendance has been much higher this year than last. They just think they are too cool for the lower section behind the goal.

You can't draw conclusions from student attendance during the break, it always sucks. Even so, the UAB game had way more students than the Christmas week game last year.

The biggest point I am trying to get across here is even if there is an improvement in nonstudent attendance (there is while I think it is smaller than you claim it to be), there still isn't nearly enough support for this basketball team.

I don't care if it's student support or what, the support needs to increase. I've watched a lot of basketball this year. Good programs have fans filling arenas right now. You don't even have to win championships to be in this category.

Arkansas packs Bud Walton even for Non conference cupcakes. Missouri wasn't expected to be better than 7th SEC this season and have packed their gym. Tennessee gets butts in the seats for mediocre basketball.

We were picked to finish 3rd in the SEC and we still have very, very little fan support at games. How is LSU suppose to get great players to play here in front of 4 thousand people? We need to be filling the stadium, even for OOC games. Students need to get there. non-students need to get there.

Just my thoughts:

1. The student attendance has not been good. However, I'll defend them at bit to say that there are more students there than what you see in the most prominent part of the student section. The section as a whole isn't a very good viewpoint. Therefore, many of the student are scattered throughout the sideline seats because there are plenty of open seats not being used by season ticketholders.

2. LSU basketball has suffered because there hasn't been much consistency in the program. While Brady probably gets more criticism than he deserves (especially considering that he brough a team to the Final Four), his tenure at LSU is marked by extreme ups and downs. LSU would win the SEC one year ('00), only to finish near the bottom the next ('01). Or, they would make the tournament one year and then miss it the next two. Couple that with the fact that at the same time football was emerging as a national power, and baseball already was, many LSU fans lost interest in basketball

3. The non-student support for basketball has to primarily come from those in the BR metro area. Only a small % of people are going to drive up from a hour or more away on a Tuesday or Wednesday to catch a game.

4. After Jan. 1st, LSU will have a great opportunity to recapture some interest. Most fans are "dissapointed" with the football season and are already looking towards next year. Baseball doesn't start until mid-Feb. There's a month in a half gap where all attention can turn to basketball. The OOC results have generated a little buzz, but Jan. 7th vs. Tenn. will be a big game as far as fan support is concerned. It's on national TV. CFB will have just ended and people will be looking for the next sport to watch. LSU has had a few of these "barometer" games over the last few years ('13 v. Fla.; '12 v. Kentucky) and has fallen flat on their face. If they can beat Tenn., I think you see better and better turnouts from both students and non-students the rest of the year.

So you're saying attendance will be poor the rest of the season since all remaining games are on tv.

You're very wrong here South. As recently as last year and 2 yeasr ago, outside of big games like Marquette (which had about as much people as we did this past weekend), ~1000-2000 people would show up to non-conference. It was really bad.

We're at least getting around 40-50%. It's an improvement. Student turnout hasn't improved, which is why the thread exists.

I bet if there was poll of LSU students and the Baton Rouge public the morning of an LSU basketball game, less than 20% would even know there was a game that day.

I just expected more. We can complain that student turnout is the problem but at the end of the day, students only consist of about 1/8th of the seats. I think we need to focus on getting the entire place filled rather than just pointing fingers.

I've been to four basketball games this year and have yet to sit in the student section. There are more students there then you think, they would just rather not sit in those shitty seats.

This is our chance to make a statement. Huge opportunity for our team and it would be great to have a packed PMAC. The lack of student attendance is alarming but the Roar Corps set up is pathetic and shameful. Once students start coming to games LSU will see that a change with the media location needs to be made

Would've been there if I hadn't already bought tickets for the New Orleans Bowl.

Psh. I went to the basketball game, left immediately for NOLA and still made it to the bowl game within the first quarter (I was told I didn't miss much).
