yes that was his pass block grade, absolutely horrendous. he can see the bench now. let harper and satterwhite take turns at LG. satterwhite has played guard before not just center.

He was only offered by LSU because of the family money. The fact that he is actually playing is pretty shocking.

Is this the Mascona / PFF grade? Because if you don’t know it is a metric not the metric.

Apparently he’s all we got. How we didn’t bring in more talent for the OL was always a question. It’s going to be an ongoing issue all year.

Is this kid only starting because of his dad? His dad would let him get benched if he cared about LSU.

No this isn't HS football, dad's generally are not buying starting gigs.

I would guess Ben picked up the offense better than his competition but the guy is just physically limited and dudes like echols who can feast on even the best of OL are going to straight up murder him

Maybe. Not sure. He was part of the OL that started getting a lot of push and had really good success running the ball in the 2nd half. Despite not having a passing game. I don’t think it’s possible for Harper to not be much better in pass protection. But what if he’s much worse run blocking?

There’s a reason Borderlon beat Harper out, and it’s not because of his parents. That’s absurd. This isn’t high school. Lane doesn’t play that shite. I’m assuming it’s because he’s a better run blocker, and they felt that’s what this offense needed more.

But a 12.6 in pass pro is unplayable. I’m not sure they bench him for the rest of the season yet. But I’d be shocked if Harper doesn’t play a good bit this week. He might even start. I definitely think you’ll see both guys some. But this A&M game is now a must-win and we have McNeese the next week, so big, permanent personnel changes might not happen until after Saturday. How good is A&M’s interior? Are they better pass rushers or run stoppers? Even if they’re not dynamic pass rushers, Elko watches film and will have some inside blitzes to try to take advantage of Bo.

But Lane and Charlie do too, so they’ll know that, and could help Bo out with RBs to his side, Grace lined up to the left of Seaton and picking up the edge, allowing for Seaton to help Bo, rolling Sam out to the right, etc…Or without Trey, just going 4-wide, instead of 3, and hitting some quick throws, etc…There are some things they can do this week to kinda hide Bo in pass pro.

But moving forward, I think they’ll give Harper every opportunity to win that job. Or maybe some other guy we’re not considering. Can Saterwhite play LG? Can Thompkins? Can Thompkins play RT and move Davis inside to LG? If Davis isn’t athletic enough to play RT, maybe he’s a better fit inside? Maybe not. I’m not sure anything is really off the table at this point, though. I think they work on several different combinations in practice this week, Saturday is probably closer to status quo, then any significant changes will probably happen next week against McNeese.
