Those Arkansas fans, I tell ya'! They sure do know how to pull for a bunch of losers! (who beat the piss out of us) Those fans deserve a certificate, or something.

Off topic but...
Teachers' salaries are exactly what they should be.
Free market.
Free will.
If you don't like your salary, get another job.

Took the job when I was a young mother so I could be with my children. Too close to retirement to change now. 2 years and I can retire. AND I will.

I plan to get another job when that day comes. My life circumstances changed and made things hard. Not the job. Not the salary. My family circumstances got challenging to say the least.

Hanging in there. I remind myself that $ isn't everything.. I would, however, love to take the place of a lot of people throwing away those tickets and not staying. They don't appreciate what they have is my point.

pardon me for asking, but what kind of POS woman abandons her child?
I can understand to grown ups not getting along no one gives up their child.

I agree with you about teaching 100% How many people on this board could take being called a MF to your face, or being spit on? Yet a teacher's hands are tied. You're not allowed to react in the situations that I posted. You're also held to a standard to educate the children of thugs whose parents can't read above a third grade level. You're in a classroom because you love what you do. I bet these macho posters who are putting you down wouldn't last five minutes in a school such as Capitol, Donaldsonville High, Baker High etc.

Don't leave out the rich kids. They can be pretty difficult in their own way. The privileged can be just as challenging to teach.

A good friend of mine taught her entire career at a private school in Baton Rouge. She always complained about the parents and not the students. She told me that the parents have an attitude that they are always right and they are above you because they pay you your salary. I have another friend who earned her masters plus thirty. She taught at a predominate black high school in Baton Rouge for five years. After she received her plus thirty, she was hired by the most affluent private school in EBR. This is her first year there and she plans on not returning next year. She plans to return to a public school if EBR or a surrounding parish will hire her.
