So anyone who saw any LSU game last year knows that Jacob Phillips was actually really good in his first year as a starter. I thought he would be the playcaller this year on his way to probably becoming a 2nd round pick but it seems like they’ve given the keys to mike divinity who has played OLB his whole life. Is divinity just that quick of a learner or is there something we don’t know about?

Considering we don't see all of the practices nor are we in the film room or training sessions, I'll go with the second option.

They’ve said Divinity is a natural at ILB.

Phillips, Queen, & Clark are all competing for the other spot.

McCallum is going to be a force next year as well. I’d imagine he redshirts this year.

Divinity is a great player and has been in the defense almost 4 years.

He knows the plays well enough to call them for sure and he’s a senior leader.

Phillips will get his chance but I thinj A lot of players are better just playing and thinking about themselves than everyone else. Hopefully he lets everyone know what’s up this year.

I’m a fan.

Considering I heard Divinty’s name in the same sentence with Devin White recently, I think this guy is about to ball out of control.

LSU hasn’t even played a down this season.

Slow down, you got too much dip on ya chip!

Divinity played OLB in more of a 4-3 base when he was at John Ehret. He often went out and covered the slot. Now being in Aranda’s defense for 3 years he’s extremely versatile and can play multiple roles and for that reason I believe they gave him the play caller role. Also you can tell he’s very vocal and holds others accountable. I love Jacob Phillips and I expect a monster season from him, but I think a lot of people have taken Divinity for granted these past few seasons, he’s going to be missed when he’s gone. Him deciding to come back for his senior year was absolutely huge!

Someone posted a few days ago and said Aranda is pretty high on him. Maybe a special teams player for us this year to get his feet wet.

I’d love to see him on the field, but there’s a stupid amount of talent ahead of him.

If Chaisson is healthy, he and Delpit are going to be the best players on the team.

Patrick Queen is going to be better than Divinity and Divinity is a stud. Linebacker is a luxury right now.

I have to give Orgeron credit for that because Miles was absolute shite down the stretch in regards to LB recruiting.

LB is amazingly deep when you consider when Aranda got here we had more kickers on scholarship that linebackers.

He really was. After Duke & Beckwith graduated he basically had 3 useable LBs in Devin & Divinity, Key if you want to count him . The depth there was terrible for a 3-4

I see Divinity being a pass rusher from the ILB position. They loved sending DW40 through the A gap, and i expect Divinity to do that even more now. I don’t think he will be a coverage LB by any means. Phillips will still be the best ILB next year IMO
