Find it funny how O used media for positive press during the process of landing full-time gig and made it seem like they would get a ton of access, then he closes camp for a while and toys around with them saying we may have players suspended, but I'm not telling you and no one is going to leak it

Very surprised it didn't leak at least Friday night or Saturday morning

You are not important enough to know who coach O suspends and for what infraction.

Would you rather have the week leading up to the game be all about fricking suspensions?

One less story the media can beat into the ground. I have no problem with how he handled it.

Perhaps devil's advocate here, but wouldn't it be the opposite? I saw several articles in days leading up, O was asked about it during teleconference, media availability and on radio show, and local radio talked about it. I wouldn't say it was a distraction, but it was definitely in the air.

If LSU had announced earlier in the week how players were going to be suspended and no additional comments will be made, I doubt there would have been more press than what occurred this past week. Getting ahead of a story and controlling the message sometimes works better than playing defense

You do realize this is just every player that skipped class, smoked pot, missed workouts, slacked in practice, made bad grades, or any other kind of infraction since January, right?

Should he really come out and say " Caleb Roddy did this and Divinity did this" ? Who does that help? No need to open kids up for ridicule , it's all in house stuff .

If a guy commits a crime and is arrested, trust me , we will all know every detail.

If any of those are failed drug tests he can't disclose the reason.

Agreed. Just say so-and-so was suspended for violation of team rules. That is a broad phrase that can be used for just about anything

Disagree. I think the real strategy behind this is to set precedent to the rest of the team and create a culture of professionalism. Its possible that Les Miles allowed the team to have too much fun and was too open and the players ran wild. Orgeron is going all in on this "one team, one heartbeat" thing and wants the team to have an insular, "us vs. the world" mentality. All the best teams always do like Gumps and Patriots.

Coach O learned under some really great head coaches so I trust his strategies. I think hes simple-minded enough not to have his own ideas but bright enough to adopt ones from those that are obviously much brighter than him. That lack of ego and an understanding of your weaknesses makes him much smarter than many that are much smarter than he but let their ego get in the way.

Well in all honesty, I'd venture to say every person posting on this board didn't have a sole purpose in life when they were in college, which is to play football, As these suspended players do.

So your post is apples and oranges.

Wht? Why is it any of our fricking business?

I don't think it's any ones business outside of the coaching staff, but this kind of shite has been going on for years. There's always somebody that thinks they have a right to know everything that is happening within the football program.

I understand the guy being annoyed over the players lack of judgement, but unless the coaching staff feels like releasing that information, it's none of our business.

Excellent post . What we are seeing from Coach O is a distinct lack of ego. That increases my optimism.

To protect the privacy of our athletes, I can only say it's NCAA related.

Eta: so don't blame the coaching staff on this one. This is beyond their control.
