This is 100% a scare tactic and an orchestrated move to create shock and awe. Knowing that Ed Orgeron is the head coach of the state university’s football team; fresh off a national championship; and knowing the media would have/did pick this up and run wild. Knowing thAt the negative PR this would
Cause and how most people hear RICO and automatically associate it with a serious violation or allegation. The lawyers here aren’t trying to win in court. They know they will win/have already pretty much won; in the court of public opinion. And lsu will most probably settle to try and keep this hush hush.
If I was lsu I’d fight this in a heartbeat; knowing how hard and intricate it is to prove a rico case.

Regardless of the outcome, the optics are terrible. Perception is reality.

You know there’s a way around this, you could actually go to the police like you’re supposed to

Who are the multiple players off of the championship team? I must have missed that news. That statement alone should be grounds to toss this bs.

I expect attorneys like to use the RICO statute because the threat of reimbursed legal fees plus treble damages would be an incentive to settle if there is any grey area.
