Really? How else would you throw a deep ball? Jumping in the air? Falling down after throwing off your front foot? Would look pretty goofy.

Are you stupid? He would put his weight on his front foot while throwing.

Seriously, are you stupid?

If Scott is starting you can chalk up back to back shutouts

Like this? If this is throwing off his back foot, which it is, I'll take it all day and all season long. It's not like Etling has never thrown a deep ball before. This pass was over 50 yards.

Methinks Danny is not long for the starting role...

Danny Etling needs to put on 35 pounds of muscle at least! Arm strength, leg strength is the name of the NFL.

He transfers his weight in that throw. While it's not perfect, that's not him throwing off his back foot.

Bruh you can clearly see him transfer his weight properly in this throw. In no stretch of the definition is that throwing off of his back foot. Just stop

That's my point. The guy (the one who I first responded to) who wanted him to learn to NOT throw long passes off his back foot didn't watch the games. Thank You !!!

You do understand that one throw doesn't prove a thing, one way or the other, right?

This is turning into a very stupid argument. You do realize that that wasn't the only pass (touchdown or other) Etling completed last season, right?

An LSU fan who has witnessed Etling throw long balls for completions and touchdowns. If he does it off his back foot, more power to him.

Etling has his moments where he looks pretty good. I think he's got some potential. He's accurate on short and intermediate throws.

He has to work on the deep ball. I never could tell, though, whether this was an issue with play calling and oline.

I think he's got the ability to be a pretty good QB. He puts fantastic touch on the ball. You really can't teach that. He's more mobile than he gets credit for. We had oline and pass protection issues in the Bama game.

I thought the turning point for him was in the 1st quarter in the Bama game. He threw a great ball to Chark near the sideline. Would have put us at their 20-25 yard line. It was a tad late, though, and it led Chark out of bounds. He needed a confidence boost to get into a rhythm, but he never found it.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Etling. I could see him with a year starting taking a big leap with Canada. I do question his arm strength. But, with better play calling and protection, he should have guys who are more open and that would mask this. He wouldn't have to throw into tight windows.

There are plenty of great CFB QBs with much worse arm strength. Canada has something to work with here. It wouldn't be a miracle to make Etling a very solid QB. Just needs timing on the deep ball and better play calling.
