Orgeron: It's going to look different, because it is different

If O doesn't meddle, and lets Brady do his thing, we may FINALLY get the modern offense we've been waiting so long to see. In which case, this team is going to be very tough to beat.
Very much looking forward to LSU scoring a shitload of points this year. Some merciless blowouts would be nice for a change.

“Well, you know we wanted to go to the spread,” Orgeron said. “I mean, we’re in a spread offense—we’re going with three-wide sets, four-wide sets, five-wide when empty. We’re running run-pass options, we’re running a lot of the stuff the Saints ran with the tailback coming out, out of the backfield. So it’s going to look different because it is different. And we’re glad that we have it, but we’re still going to have the power football game. We’re still going to have the physicality that we need to, that’s in our DNA at LSU.”

I say if it is modern, then great...if it is antiquated, that is ok too...if we win, I am good with whatever runs out of the tunnel.

I'm buying into the hype
I completely trust this staff, especially with the addition of Joe Brady. If what's being said turns out to be true, then we are in for a fun year of LSU football.

Sounds like he has absolutely no plan as usual.

Ok I'm getting really confused here. Is this Brady's offense or Ensminger's offense?

Sounds like Brady has huge influence on what they want to do.. The whole reason they went and got him.

Hopefully more Brady's.

Now there's a surprise.

I'll believe it when I see it. Our OC last held his position three presidents ago and quite frankly, can't seem to make an in-game adjustment.
I keep hearing Brady this and Brady that. We'll see just how much say he really has come September.

I know. It happens so rarely but this Brady/Ensminger deal is a head scratcher.

This year seems different. I really feel like we’ll finally see the change that our offense has needed for the last 8 years this upcoming season

Also a GA at Penn State a couple of years ago!

quote:
Brady’s endorsements come from head coaches like New Orleans’ Sean Payton and Mississippi State’s Joe Moorhead. Speaking to several coaches, Brady usually earned more responsibility than his small roles called for, and they say Brady is just the kind of coach to spark LSU in a highly competitive offensive era.
quote:
“(Brady’s) very organized,” said Andrews, now the linebackers coach at Western Michigan. “Loves to stay on task. If I would get off task, he would get frustrated. So, I put up the 'Brady Board' and put down everything he could expect for the day.”
quote:
With the calendar, Brady knew exactly when he could get his side projects done. He earned a reputation among the William & Mary coaching staff as someone who could do an incredible amount of quality work in a short period of time. Sometimes he’d break down film. One time, he reworked Andrews’ entire defensive playbook in a completely different format. “You’d give him a project to work on and expected it to be done in a week or two. Then, it would be two days later, and it would be done excellently,” Andrews said. “He’d do that while I was out recruiting. When I got back, I expected him to have a hundred questions for me, and he’d just have knocked it out.”
quote:
And after Brady spent an offseason breaking down film and setting up drills, Laycock offered Brady a full-time position as a defensive assistant — the only opening the Tribe had available. “We would usually never hire an offensive guy,” Andrews said. “But he had such a high football IQ.” One of Brady’s main responsibilities was running the scout-team offense — a practice unit that really only needed to know enough placeholder information to give the first-string defense a sufficient look. But Brady would teach the scout team the real thing — right down to the intricacies within Rogers’ West Coast offense.
quote:
“When I got (the scout team) back, they knew what the hell was going on,” Rogers said. “When you send the scout team down to defensive coaches, usually they’re just making up names for stuff.”
quote:
Just what kind of tweaks might Brady bring to LSU? “I think they’ll balance them in a lot of ways,” Rogers said. “Runs called that end up being passes. Passes that end up being runs. From a lot of different formations. He’ll try and take advantage of what he sees.” “Joe brings something different to the table. He’s an innovator. He’s going to be on the cutting edge.”

I still agree with the wait and see approach, but I am still surprised to see the sarcastic comments in here.

Sounds great but I'm still cautiously optimistic.
We hear this every year.

Exactly.
We were told that the scheme was fine and the passing game didnt need fixing.
